Gardasil

Ok well for my back-to-school checkup I may get vaccinated with Gardasil. If the fact that I'm terrified of needles wasn't enough, one of the side effects is vomiting. Gardasil is to protect me from 4 viruses that can cause cervical cancer and it will help me, I know, but nobody seems to understand that I'm absolutely terrified.

Are you getting vaccinated with Gardasil?

Oh, and to make everyone feel better, it just said at the bottom: "Gardasil is 3 injections over a 6 month period"

I think my mom is going to make me get that too. I hate needles also, I cried when I got my tetnis shot before 7th grade.

And to make things better, one of my friends got the shots and she said that they hurt.

I've gotten it. I've got 2 more shots to go and they don't hurt any worse than a regular shot. But then, I like needles. They don't bug me at all. My mom had cervical cancer and she said that the biopsy hurt really badly and it left her almost unable to have kids. I'm not really supposed to be here. So I'd rather get a few shots now than have to go through that later.

Ive already gotten two doeses. Its isnt really that bad, but be warned it does burn for a little while then it goes away.

My mom hasn't said anything to me about getting it and neither has my doctor so I don't know?

I think they only do it in the arm..thats where i got mine.

You don't have to be sexually active to get cancer....

I already got all 3 shots. I hated it. I hate needles. I was one of the first to have it a my docotors office and they used a spring loaded needle. i was so freaked out. But they didn't use it for the last 2 shots. Also after I got the shot my arm felt numb and then i didn't feel good. I didn't really react to it well.

I'm definately getting the shots...I've already had an HPV scare before....and I do have one strain of it, but it protects me from the other 3 that could cause it....therefore I'm definately getting the shots!

HPV is a virus that can cause cervical cancer....it is what Gardasil vaccinates you for....it vaccinates you against 4 strains of HPV...

You do not have to be sexually active to get Gardasil. Its for girls ages 9-26 I believe. Whether you're sexually active or not.
