Who got all of theirs out, and who will have to hold some over until next week?? :rotfl:

Our garbage is picked up once a week, on Mondays. This week it will be picked up on Tuesday instead - the city workers have Monday (today) off as a holiday. So I've put all the trash and the recycling out, and I think I got it all!!!! Except for the last couple of bags in the kitchen, and the leftovers in the refrigerator that I won't eat before next week, and the bathroom trashcans, and oh yes, there were a couple of bags and cardboard boxes I left in my closet so prying eyes wouldn't see them...

Guess I'll have to make another trip to the curb, and save some "paper" trash for next week, so it doesn't sit all week and remind us it's there every day!!!!!!

Oh, and I'll wait until next week to take down the Christmas tree - just not up to doing it tonight and dragging it to the street!!!

Christmas sure does bring a lot of garbage, doesn't it????

We are overflowing!! It's going to have to go out in two separate weeks. I think next year I'm going to steal the idea of another Dis'er here and use fabric and ribbon to wrap presents. It will be easier, resusable, and will save money in the long run!

I jumped up and down in my dumpster Saturday to make more room.  But trash day is in the morning

I was just talking about this issue last night on here. :rotfl: Our normal pickup is on Mondays so I was hoping for it today. Sure enough, they came bright & early this morning---all my Christmas trash is gone!

Hey, DVCLiz! Just wanted to say hi. Your thread title made me laugh -- I thought you meant crappy presents. :teeth: Hope you had a great holiday.

Our trash is horrible -- we have at least 5 bags in the house.

Our pick up day is monday -- DH thought they wouldn't pick up until Tuesday

I told him he should check the schedule because I thought there was pick up today AND I was pretty sure it was recycle day too

He didn't check, didn't put anything out

Guess who was right - and guess who is paying for extra pick-up this week

Every single bit of mine was picked up today! :teeth:

Of course, in our town, garbage is collected by a private company that we pay directly.

Hey alliecats!! No, no crappy presents this year - that ended the year my husband and I separated!!!! Now I have a teenage daughter who can be given cash and sent out to buy her mother gold earrings, and perfume, and clothes, and books, and.....

We had a wonderful Christmas, thanks. Both dds are in the den playing Dance Dance Revolution, and even ol' Mom has taken a turn or two (at the beginner level, of course!!!) Now all that remains is to put everything away and get the rest of the trash out!!!!

I'm jealous of everyone who got theirs picked up today.

Do some of you have a limit on what can go out each week since you have to hold over till next week? We can have as many bags/cans as we want. Big items get picked up every week, no restrictions at all. Not private firm, but the village department of public works. All our trash for Christmas and the week will go out on Friday morning instead of Thursday thanks to today being a holiday for the village.

Our town has really big green trash cans that roll, and big brown ones for recycling. So usually when I fill up those cans I'm done for the week. Most weeks, though, I have only one or two bags that won't fit, and that's only if I've been super efficient and emptied everything in the house!! At Christmas, though, I have more than will fit. We only have one city-provided can (you can have a second if you buy it!!) So this week, I've filled up a smaller can I still have in the backyard. But that's the only "extra" can I have, and I still have more trash!!! So some will have to wait for next week.....

I won't put bags out unless they're in a can because animals sometimes tear them open and I don't want to have to clean up!!!

I only have two bags of Christmas junk but I have 12 bags of leaves. 12!!!! I'm never running out of leaves.

I have boxes that need to be broken down and a couple trash bags full of wrapping paper. I wasn't sure what the OPer meant either until I read the OPost. Thanks for the chuckle.

Our pick up isn't until Friday. What a long time to wait. Grrr.

The front of our house is overflowing with trash! We'll probably have to hold some over until next week -- I'll just keep things that won't get stinky. We have old mattresses that need to go and so many other things.

I'm not sure what time the garbage men came to our house but they were on the other side of the street by 6:30am. Of course our cans are full and not dragged around because the earliest they have ever come prior to today is 8:30!!!!

Uggh...we had so much garbage! To top it off, we forgot to pull it to the curb for the trashman this morning! Lucky for us, our wonderful trashman came up to the house and got it for us and even put it back! He's a gem! (That's why we leave him a nice Christmas cash present!)

DH took some other bags down to his shop to throw them in the dumpster.

VICTORY!!!!! All of my garbage was picked up this morning, including the small can I had put out with Christmas wrapping paper and other related stuff!!!!

Why does this make me feel as though I have accomplished something major??? I mean, all I really had to do was get it to the street in bags, a task much easier than, say, doing laundry or loading the dishwasher. And yet, every week I think, "Well, there, another big project off my list!!!"

OK, now off to tackle another enormous household task - the litter box...
