Garbage wars in suburbia.

You know it's really sad that so many feel that they can't complain about the garbage men when they aren't doing their jobs. Of course I am always afraid to complain about something at daycare - I don't want the teachers to take it out on me.

Or worse - somehow on your child.

Honestly, I never thought the garbage man was someone to fear. I never thought of paying them extra to take an extra amount of garbage (assuming of course, there are no upper restrictions). I just assumed it was part of the deal. We've remodeled homes and left carpeting, water heaters, even cans full of tile. Never had a problem.

We put our yard clippings in the garbage can, and then were told by the garbage man that it made the can too heavy to move. We didn't really think - the trucks in Los Angeles had lifts to pick the cans up. But here they do it all by hand. So we've been more careful.

Also, there have been times the truck broke down and half the route got picked up, but the other didn't. They make up for it as soon as they can. We try not to think the worst now - there usually ends up being a reasonable explanation. Not sure what to thinking when the cans are MIA tho??

Good luck!

That's what I meant! Ha ha. You'd think as un-busy as I am that I wouldn't mess up like that.

I love our garbage can. It is big, with a flip open lid and wheels. The garbage company actually gave it to us...we have to pay for garbage in our town as it is not a town service.

Anyhow, this can holds a ton, and the truck has a special forklift kind of thing that fits onto the can, lifts it up and flips it upside down so the garbage falls into the truck. The garbage man never has to touch the can...heck, he doesn't even have to get out of the truck!!!!!

UPDATE!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

So we are out riding our bikes and I stop to talk with a neighbor 5 houses down. She is taking her cans in. I tell her that ours are missing and then she says "Ours were at the next door curb this morning." Then we all stop and look at the cans and say "You know, those look a lot like ours." She laughs and says "I thought they looked different." :lmao:

So the cans are home. :cheer2:

The thing is her neighbor said they were in front of their house late last night, like some kids had moved them.

So the poor garbage men had NOTHING to do with it.

DH is actually really glad he didn't make an actual complaint. Remember this men, it pays to listen to your wife. ;)

At least I got a new can out of the whole thing (DH bought one this morning.) We are going to paint our number on them all though.
