Garbage cans in resort rooms

There is a big trash can in the ice machine room. One on every floor in any resort I've stayed In.

And the values typically have them in the outside stairwells. I carried a Giordonno's pizza box down there last fall and sat it on top of about 12 other pizza boxes.

We just bring a few tall kitchen trash bags with us. They're also handy for wet swimsuits, dirty clothes, etc. We do this when we stay at any hotel. We tend to pack a cooler, so that creates extra trash too.

I am not sure if our family just accumulates more trash than most but our garbage cans are ALWAYS overflowing. I know there are a few in the rooms but they get full so quickly because they are so small. Is there a way to fix this problem or maybe I should just bring a few black plastic garbage bags with me when we go. We wind up stacking garbage around the cans. Are we the only ones?

They are VERY small, especially if you miss housekeeping one (or more days) during your stay. I always bring a couple of extra white kitchen size trash bags with me in my suitcase and empty the trash bag into those because the overflowing trash drives me batty.

I have been thinking this exact same thing. We seem to be really "trashy" at Disney and always fill or over fill the room trash cans. This is a main reason why I will continue
To use housekeeping instead of defer it for cash. I know I can go empty them or get trash bags but having housekeeping empty daily is a nice vacation perk

No, we don't have this issue, if we eat in the room, one of us always bags up the waste and takes it to one of the larger garbage cans at our resort.

Disney needs a 13 gallon can in each room-what would the big deal doing that Mickey?:)

Let's see what happens as more people decline housekeeping . . . They may have to think about putting bigger cans in, because I can certainly believe that there will be people who just let the trash pile up instead of taking it out themselves.

I can envision bags of trash lining the hallways.

I don't really get how you can overfill a pair of resort trash cans in one day. How much is there to throw away in a room that you basically use to sleep and shower? We've never had a problem with it.

I suppose if you eat a lot of snacks from home in the room you could have some trash, but I still don't see how it could be enough to overflow both trash cans, since the trash is taken out daily.

Yes, there would be people who let the trash pile up, and there would be people who leave open food around the room and toothpaste in the sink to attract bugs, and leave wet towels around for days to grow mold...This is why the cash for declining housekeeping idea would not be good for the quality of the resorts.

A couple of drink cups and those cans would be full. Bring any food packaging into the room and it's overflowing in no time.

All it takes is all 4 people bringing leftovers from a table service meal or getting a bunch of grab & go items from the food court. You eat the food and throw away the containers and you've got plenty of trash. Same thing if you bring a pizza, drinks, and salad back to the room to eat. It really doesn't take long to fill one of those trash cans if you've got 4 people in the room -- especially if they're all adults and/or teens.

I've never understood that!

4 Guests in a room can fill that thing up fast!

Our NEW POP room had 3, one of which I assume was for recycles although it wasn't green like before. They were much smaller than the old ones. They were "fancy" (haha) shaped so narrowed down. I bet would hold half of what they did before. The bags were extremely thin, not sure with trash they would even make it with me walking to the can outside. If they are going to go through with this they need much bigger cans with much bigger bags.

Many people use their room for more than just sleeping or showering.

Diapers alone are almost enough to fill up one of those tiny trash cans, never mind anything else that needs to be thrown away.

I don't think we ever slept with an old, stinky diaper in the room. It always went into outside garbage cans.

We do as others have mentioned - if we have 'bigger' garbage days, we will just take it to a larger trash can somewhere in the resort. It's a problem in every hotel we stay at, not just Disney.

In most hotels, there are extra trash can liners on the bottom of the can - so, tie up the current bag and just re-line the can.

I use the Munchkin/arm & hammer bags for dirty diapers when traveling. That way the room doesn't stink. I admit, I haven't seen/looked for trash cans in the hallways, but I'd feel weird just tossing a dirty diaper in a can in the hallway, and I'm not going all the way through the hotel and outside in my pajamas to get rid of one.
