I'm considering having a sale. I have been looking around the house and can see that we certainly do have A LOT of stuff. If you all could give me your thoughts, I would appreciate knowing what you think would be "hot sellers" at a garage sale. For me, I never look at clothes or shoes at garage sales...that's my own bias. I have read plenty of posts here that suggest those are the things that people are looking for. So, as to not rely on just my own personal perspective, let me know what you would look for at a garage sale and what you think would sell. I don't want to look at our things just through my own eyes, often thinking, nobody would want this or that.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. :thumbsup2

We are doing a Yard Sale in October when DH gets here to help.

Right now we have

A high chair, Playpen, Carseat, toddler bed, crib, crawl thru toys, Formal Gowns, An entertainment center, kids toys that they dont play with, baby clothes, clothes DH & I dont wear or dont fit, books, printer, etc.

My best sellers are always kids clothes, baby stuff (playpens, walkers, high chairs, ect.), and jeans (adult or kids). DVD's and video games always do well. Vintage stuff from the 60's and 70's (bright colored throws, pillows, lamps, and posters) retro is in with all the teens/tweens around here. I always have a lot of toys too, not a big money maker, but nice to keep young children occupied while their Mommy shops. The longer the child is happy, the longer Mommy looks. The longer Mommy looks, the more money Mommy spends!:thumbsup2

Like you, I've never found clothing to be a big seller. Although, I think little boys clothing does okay, because a lot of people are looking for 'playclothes' that they know will get ruined by their boys.

I've always done well with movies (even vhs, believe it or not), decorator items, and baby equipment. Another hot seller we had one year was daylillies from our garden. They'd grown so thick that we decided to dig them up and divide them, then sold the bulbs for 50 cents a piece. I wish we'd had 100 more!

We (my girls) look for chapter books like Magic Tree house, Fairys, Animal Ark. They also look for American Girl dolls and acces, anything Disney and Build a bear animals and acces.

I look for acces for the house like pictures and little decorations, especially holiday ones.

My Mom and aunts look for tea cups and pots and maching china pieces.

If I see someone smoking there or things smell like smoke I just keep going. My girls have terrible allergies so nothing is worth it even at Yard sale prices.
