Garage sale questions

How much would you price a clarinet for? It was bought for $750 new and is in good shape but needs a few pads replaced.

I also have my husband's grandmother's nice sewing machine but it no longer works. I don't know what's wrong with it (i've been told but don't remember) but I know it can be fixed. The brand is "White" and it looks really cool and old. That's about all I can tell you about that! Any ideas what to price it for?

Buffets have a pretty decent resale value. two more questions I forgot before, pads btw are cheap so its no biggie. (corks too...its like 20 to replace both)

how old is the clarinet? and do u know if the inside of the clarinet is well kept? Doesnt look like well acid eatting the inside? (a sign of prolong moisture.)

I'm gonna say it's from '89 or '90.

The inside looks great. No sign of moisture/acid damage.

Then I am gonna say 300-400 is a fair price if its in good condition. Might be better trying to sell privately.

Unfortunately, old sewing machines aren't going well these days. At least in Chicagoland you'd be lucky to get $25 for it. I had one that I put out at three different friends' sales and it never sold.

Maybe your luck will be better.

depends though. If its just the machine ...eh. But if its a console sewing machine....then thats another story.

You might want to try Craigslist for the clarinet. That way you don't have to ship it. I sold my son's saxophone for about 70% of what we paid for it. It was 2 years old. Parents will definitely be looking for used instruments starting in late July.
