Gap between king mattress and king bed frame???

I bought a new king mattress set and headboard/footboard and there is about a 5-6 inch gap between the two.....

Is this normal??


HELP!! It is driving me batty

I would think you need SOME kind of a gap between the mattress and the ends of the bed. If there wasn't a space, how would you tuck the sheets and the blankets in around the top and bottom of the mattress?? I'd push the mattress almost all the way toward the head of the bed and leave the gap by the footboard so the blankets fill the gap.

I think most of them have a gap..but that sounds excessive. I just measured ours and theres an inch gap at either end..more than enough to tuck the blankets and sheets in!
 
Almost sounds as if your bed frame is for a California King - IIRC those run about 4" longer than a regular king size. Is the frame adjustable?
