I am thinking of getting a gift card for Gamestop. Can you get used Wii games there that are any good? for around $15???

Thanks for any help. I have never been there, as we don't have any video game systems.

They have a bin of various games for all systems, sort of a bargain bin. Whether or not they are good is all by chance. Otherwise, there are a handful of selections on the shelf for around that price or a little more.

i would just get a gift card for target or something like that. most used games are only 5 bucks off. I am an avaid gamer and the only time i get used games is when they do their buy 2 get 1 sale. Sometimes the used games are very scratched and what not. Also chances are if a video game is 15 bucks it isn't very good. Either that or it is very old and the person might already have it. Children mind the bad games alot less than a teenager or adult too. godd wii games on the cheap... for 12 and older (kind of a hard game it is full of very neet puzzles) would be zac and wiki also elebits is very cheap and very good but is a launch game so they may already have it. for a teenager resident evil 4 wii edition would be good (but again it is older so they may have it and it is scary/violent, but it is an amazing game).

Our gamsestop is pricey -- not much cheaper than buying new at Amazon and in a lot of cases more expensive. You can do better with sales from other retailers. The only time I hit gamestop is if I find a game I want that's no longer in print and is only available on the secondary market. In that case they are sometimes cheaper than amazon or ebay sellers.

If you want to go used, I highly recommend Secondspin.com. Their regular prices aren't that great, but they run a lot of promos: 20%, 25 or 30% off, BOGO, free shipping, etc. They have a different promo every week and the trick is to watch the item you want and know when you're getting a great deal.

I think you can get some good used games for around $20. I just got Wii Ski and Wario...I believe they were $18.99 each.

Our gamestops around here don't have good prices either. I would rather wait and watch for a deal and buy new. I just bought 9 games and every single one of them came out cheaper then buying used at Game Stop. Most of them quite a bit cheaper.

The one nice thing about buying a used game is that you can return it for a refund. You can't buy a new game, open it, and then return it because you don't like it. The popular used games at Gamestop are usually just a few dollars off the regular price though.

I stopped at our Gamestop last night to check out prices. I have seen the same or better deals at Target, WMart, Kmart, etc than they had @ GS.

I was unimpressed to say the least.

I asked about used Wii controllers thinking I might save $$$ on them. THey had 2. Each was $34.99. I can get brand new @ WMart for $39.99. :confused3

I can't see that taking a used game or hardware could be worth the few bucks you'll save.

FYI, you can get an additional 20% off used games (and an additional 20% on trade in credit) if you subscribe to their yearly 'discount club". It's around $15 a year. For me..well worth it. Gamestop is the only place near us that TAKES trade in's and I make my money back and then some every year. Plus it's like getting a free subscription to Game Informer Magazine (for whatever that's worth). But it's NOT for everyone.

You CAN find some good deals on used games, but you have to know where and how to look. You have to keep an eye on their promos AND you have to actually engage the sales staff and ask to SEE the disk before you buy it (because "gaurenteed to play"...which they do...doesn't mean "in great shape"). I've found games...good ones...that are on the used rack 2 weeks after release. $5 off retail + another $10 off with my discount card ends up being a pretty good deal, if the game is in really good shape. That takes a 59.99 game and turns it into a 44.99 game. Usually, that's cheaper than I can find it anywhere else (especially without paying shipping costs). They also offer a very generous return policy on used games...something the big box retailers don't do on new.

I wouldn't buy a gift card expecting they'll find a good $15 game in a bin somewhere, though. Even the used games don't approach that price unless they are a) poor sellers or b) older titles. I WOULD buy one for an avid gamer who is already going to spend some money in there, anyway. You might not buy him a complete game...but you might contribute toward his next purchase. :)

A $15 game for wii, even used, will either be at least a couple of years old or a total bomb.
