Are there any games or photo hunts a'la Flickr's "A Day in the Life Of" (DILO) or the infamous 26 things that are done here on the DISboards?

If not, would anyone be interested if I were to start / post one?

Update: please vote in the above poll (complete with "explanation" misspelled :( )

could you possibly give more details for those of us who don't use flickr

Sure. Here are a few examples of what I mean:

DILO (Day in the Life Of) is where one would take a series of photos (in whatever increments you decide to do) and post them. I did one a while back and just took pics of every significant or semi-significant point throughout the day (getting up to find my glasses, breakfast, naptime, etc.) and you take a series of pictures that tell the story of each moment or your day as a whole.

26 things is much simpler. You are given 30 days and a list of 26 words or phrases and you go take a picture that fufills each one. A good Disney example would be "ears" being matched with a picture of Mickey's ears.

Other ideas would be a photo scavenger/treasure hunt.

I hope this helps! :D

I think it would be a good idea. I'm always looking for new ways to waste time at work.... um, er, I mean develop my photography skills.

What are we waiting for? Go for it, tydna. :thumbsup2 (I'd suggest making it fun but simple to start.)

I was thinking about that a while ago when I ran across one of those old DILO books- it would be pretty cool to see pictures taken by all DIS'rs who would participate within a 24 Hour period. A collective shoot of sorts. :thumbsup2

Cool...I'll see if I can add a poll to this thread and get to work on some hunts/projects.

Thanks for the input, everyone!

:thumbsup2

Is a Disney DILO mean you have to be at Disney that day?

If you do a Disney theme it might be hard to get actual photos unless, like Gdad mentioned, you're actually at Disney? This might cause people to use old photos instead of going out and shooting new ones, no? If the purpose is to go out and use your camera, maybe you might be better off using just a DILO? Kind of unsure. I voted a 26 type things project, but if it can be Disney and done from home, then I'd like the others, too.

Is a Disney DILO mean you have to be at Disney that day?

In a nutshell, it would work like this:

On your next trip, take as many photos in one single day as you'd like. Put them together in any way you want to -- this will be your DisneyDILO.

Another way would be to take photos from your personal archive (no stock photos or others' pics) and put them together.

The only stipulation would be that all the photos would have to be from one single day or 24 hour period -- it must be within that time frame.

It could be at one or many parks, resorts, monorails, ferry, or Disney-themed areas -- even the trip to / from the park.

Hope this helps!

As fun as this sounds, I would personally not be able to contribute anything until late 2009 at the earliest. I would like to see something more general that could be at Disney, but could be at home as well.

You might want to check the Theme Park Community forum here, too; there are a ton of games going on at any given time and many involve photos.

i agree with andy since i already can't do the photo contest,,,i'm feeling shunned:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I don't want anyone feeling shunned / left out -- what's up?

Oh, I'm not really feeling so much shunned, as I just thought that it shouldn't be just a Disney themed type game. Since I won't be in Disney for at least another year, probably longer, it would be nice if these types of games could encompass more than just a Disney DILO. Of course, if those who are about to go on a Disney trip want to share it this way, then that would be GREAT too, but for those of us not planning a trip anytime soon, maybe the game should be broader than just Disney.

Here's how a Disney-themed hunt/project would go:

You could use pictures from your past trips or take pictures that represented something related to Disney. A on-site Disney project would be totally separate from any of this -- and there are plenty other Disney games out there.

So, even if we did a Disney theme, you wouldn't be required to be at Disney. You could take pictures from your past trips or of things around your home that remind you of or have to do with Disney or all things "Magical."

It looks like we'll be doing a "26 Things" style hunt / project first.

A DILO (day in the life of) will follow or go along with that.

I'd still like to hear from as many of you as possible until 4/4/08.

Thanks for all the wonderful input!

I voted any of the above. I think they all sound fun! I take WAY too many pics at Disney, so I could do a DILO from MANY days of many past trips! I can't wait to try whatever contest starts first!

Looks like we've got a winner.

Look for the new project to be posted shortly!
