This was inspired by the other "Art in Soarin" thread... I've heard people mention these games that you can play in the queue in Soarin.. just wondering if you've seen/participated in the games and what time of year it was that you did this....

I was there last Sept 2008 and did not see them being done.. didn't even know it was there until I read it on disboards...

If there is a really short wait time, or if it is near closing time they normally won't show the games!!!

DH never quite got "with the program" for using FP much, so we stood in the line each time, and got to play each time. The games did help pass the time, but I'd have rather skipped the lines altogether. :-)

We were there at a slow time, though, so the line really wasn't a problem.

I did not see the game, but images were great. I saw them last July(2008), the line was long, more then hour, but it was very late, I think it was during Evening Extra Hours. I really hoped to find the name of artist, I wanted to buy the print but I cannot find it anywhere.:sad1:

I've been on Soarin' many times since it opened, and I've never been in the standby line except for once at Rope Drop - no games were on that time. I saw them over the wall last trip, though, as I was zipping along the FP walkway!

Seen and played one of them. They help pass the time and are quite the ingenious way to keep people occupied and having fun. I'd like to see them incorporated in other lines where possible (too bad TSM's queue won't work with them). The biggest problem was getting everybody in your own little section playing together.

We played the game in a 45 minute wait line in April 2008. It was almost like playing an interactive Wii game with a lot of people, but instead of a Wii remote, you're body's thermal energy seemed to be the instrument.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the images are computer generated and dynamic... they keey changing. They all have a similar theme and similar elements, but I don't think they're the same every time.

On our family trips we always FP Soarin', so I did not even know these existed until I went as a trip escort with a marching band in Feb 09. Our group (escorts plus some parents) wanted to ride and did not have FP's, so we got to play the games, and I must admit it was a lot of fun. It helped that we had a pretty big group who loved doing it all together.

They are stable when game is not on, that what I saw, they just showed recording of images, and they did repeat, they are different a little bit from game images, look more like paintings, that is why I thought of print.

I dont know that I've ever been in standby line since Soarin has opened and I've been many many times. Hmmm. I am remembering practically running thru the empty queue one pm EMH to get on one more time before it closed but that was 2006 so Im not sure if the games were there then. I bet that was the regular line and not FP, but I don't recall for sure. I didn't know the existed till a few days ago some one mentioned it on the Dis.

They're a very recent addition. I don't remember seeing them last fall, but they were there in May. I'm not sure exactly when they got put in, but it was sometime in that interim.

They were there last fall. According to the Orlando Sentinel they were added the first week of July in 2007. So they have been there over two years now.

We play them, at odd times of day (morning, afternoon, late at night) but only when the standby line is long and whichever CM is in charge of pressing whatever button it takes to activate the game cycle is present and inclined to do so. It's certainly not a guaranteed thing during a long wait, but we seem to catch them most frequently during evening EMH waits.

The build-a-landscape-grow-the-flowers one is my personal favorite, but most of my travelmates prefer the bird races.
