Has anyone used this online game rental (sort of like netflix but for video games)?

Looking for comments or experiences?

Thanks!

We are members of Gamefly and love it! We take 2 games out at a time and get to keep them for as long as we want! We have kept games for 6 months before!

Yes we also use it. My son loves it and we have never had a problem with them. It has been about 2 years.

We signed up and it took 6 days to receive the first 2 games. It was probably a fluke, but I cancelled before the 2 week trial was up. My kids were disappointed when the mail came and the games weren't here, I didn't want to go through it everytime

Just started up with Gamefly. The 'summer deal' (pay for one month, get a second free) seemed like a pretty good way to test drive the system. Since we have a PS2, DS, and a Wii, there's a lot of content to choose from. Plus, I like the fact that many games are available on two platforms. So... I can add games like Wall-E twice(Wii and PS2). Whichever one comes up first allows me to cancel the second. Or keep it, if I am really interested in seeing the differences.

I had read that GF has the ability to know when you drop a game(barcode scanned at postoffice) in the mail so it can immediately fire off the next game in the que. I haven't seemed to notice any drastic turnaround, though. Seems like my game had to hit the dispatch center at GF Pittsburgh, before they sent along the next title.

That said... we're enjoying it, and it beats spending $50 on a new Wii game that may be less than spectacular.

We have used Gamefly for about a year now. The kids love it because there is such a huge variety of games they can choose from (even Nintendo DS). We do not live near a shipping center, so it generally takes a week to get a new game. Sometimes, like another poster mentioned, when they scan it at your post office they'll send your next game. But that's only happend twice for us. I wish the turn around was faster.

I think the big thing for us was the pricetag of a Wii game. At fifty bucks a pop, I'd sooner test drive a game before I decide if I want to hang onto it.

Been there, done that a couple of times. We've been a member on and off for the last couple of years. My DS(12) would drive me crazy if a game wasn't in the mail in a couple of days. Seems between the time we last cancelled and reactivated last month they have several more places they ship from, one being in Texas, YAY!!! So the last couple of games have come two days after Gamefly reports it's been shipped.

Much better turn around time than a year ago, that's for sure. I also do the 2games out at one time for $22.95/month.

The biggest problem I've had with Gamefly is the availability of the top games. You can wait a long time for the popular ones. I have quit and rejoined 3 times. It does help if you have more than one game system - you can put the same game down for both and do as the other poster suggested and take the other out of your que if they send you one.

It is nice to try before you buy but frustrating if you have to wait a month or two to get a newly released game when you or the kids are excited to try it.

We got a 1 month free trial from Pizza Hut. I like how you can try the games out to see if you like them, but it takes way too long to get a game. They don't have nearly enough shipping centers. I was going to keep the membership going, but since it takes too long to get the games, I am going to cancel before the 30 days is up.

We've joined and with where we live (Missouri) it takes forever to get the game in the mail. But the time I get the game, play it a few times, send it back, and get a new game my membership isn't even hardly paid for and the month is almost over. It just wasn't worth it to us. We checked and joined gamerang too. It was a little better with the shipping, but still wasn't worth it to us. When someone gets a game service that has better shipping, I may give it another try till then I'll just play the games I own.

I Love Gamefly!! I've had them for a year now, I tried a few others (gameznflix, gottaplay) before sticking with Gamefly. The other services were just slow taking forever to get the next game. Gamefly, for me, is only 2-3 days once I get the e-mail saying its been sent. New releases are sent out right away the day of release, sometimes the day before... They also send out on Saturdays and tell you when the post office is closed. They put in the effort!

$16 a month for one rental a time can be a bit much but the convenience is excellent. $22 for two at a time is a great value if you play alot and choose to keep games longer without buy them. Speaking of, the "Keep It" option is awesome because when you get a new release you're pretty much the first person to play that disc so it's getting a new game with 10% off. And if you stay with them for 3-12 months you get $5 in credit and up to 10% off used game which can be 20-50% off the retail price and they are 100% guaranteed. I've bought 5 or so games from them!

Hit me up on Xbox Live if you ever wanna play!!
