We are checking into the BCV on Sun 10/1. We will probably arrive in WDW on Sat. Right now are 3 options for Sat night are

1. Stay at YC/BC and hope for an annual pass discount (should be it's value season)
2. Stay on cash at BCV
3. Rent 22 points needed for a studio on Sat night

We could just stay at a value or mod but we will be taking our infant on his first trip and want it to be as easy as possible so no moving of hotels but just changing rooms is no big deal.

Which option do you think would work best and be the most economical? If it's the AP rate any idea when those would be released?

If you can get the cash night at BCV, think that will be best for you. Have a great vacation.

I agree. We were in a similar situation adding a Friday night on our trip and the cash ressie for a studio thru MS was less than renting the points would have been.

What is the cash rate then? A certain percentage off? If we go that route is it all one reservation? We wouldn't have to check out or switch rooms?

I think the discount is 25%. I believe you can link the ressies if it's the same size unit.

We are starting our stay at BCV's with a Saturday night at the Yacht Club in August. Got a AAA rate of 289 with tax and was told if and when AP rates are released we can apply the discount.

Just picked up on the words "value season". Isn't October now regular season? It would be nice if it were value season, I know it was, but I thought there was talk of changing it.

We usually arrive late at night(10-11 PM) on a Saturday night and hate to use those points!! I have gotten room using priceline in the downtown disney area. I just pack a small bag for the night and leave the rest in the car. We sleep, get up early, have a wonderful breakfast and check into our resort mid morning!!! I can't see using around 79 pts for such a short time on a Saturday night even when it leads into my vacation!!

Oct is now "regular season". The member rate @ BCV was the same as AAA for the date we needed (Sunday, Oct. 8th). We reserved @ $259+, they don't charge CC until you arrive but, do need to cancel 6 days out. They linked the room to our stay on points.

I was very disappointed to discover that AP rates are not a "given"...no guarantee that you can apply AP disc. to existing res. Only if an AP rate is issued & available; can you flip it over to existing res. If the hotel is near capacity, they may not offer any AP rates or only certain type of rooms. Hope they do pop up though!

Somewhat absurd that the Value Resorts AAA rates are $95 for the same time period (and they're somewhat limited already).
Good luck.

I thought I just read a post with AAA someone got pop for $79 - I dont have AAA, but booked Pop last Sat in Sept for $88... (same situation - I was tempted to do the priceline, but decided to go for the sure thing of Disney - and my dd is 9 - so this will surprise everyone, and we can use Magical Express to Pop, and Disney will transfer our luggage over to Boardwalk - I think it will be relatively painless!!

Then I realized I could've done a Priceline Airport hotel, and used the shuttle back to MCO to get Magical Express... of course that may raise "ethical - pool hopping, mug questions" so I just went with POP!! I think DD will love the theming, and I hear the food court has slushies, so it may be hard to transfer, but it may not... (we get in late as well - but saving $300 on tickets coming in a day early - we went with a day early!!)

According to allears "regular season" doesn't start until 10/05 and we'll be there before that.

That sounds more like an AP rate or perhaps AAA value season rate. I paid $95/night (including tax) w/AAA. Will cancel for June though, since I lucked out & found an Entertainment rate (1/2 off) @ BW Lakeside...figure the $50 I'll save the first night will buy dinner (and save us from the lengthy AS check-in line).

We'll be doing a similar Value/DVC transfer in Oct., unless I find a cheap rental car. Still haven't used ME yet, so afraid of getting stranded LOL.

I was going to try something similar but DME requires your airline arrival date and DME use date to be the same. Heres as I explained to Member Sevices-
I wanted to stay a friday night at the airport Hyatt , the one in the lobby of the airport, because my family was going to fly back home early sat am I wanted to be there to get my niece and head over to disney for the week, I was told I could use DME on the friday but NOT saturday since I had flown in the day before something to do with security/insurance thing. We would have been able to get it from WDW to MCO but we've changed a date or two with our vacation.

AHA!!

Thanks for sharing your experience...

ummm, but what if - and i wouldnt trust this, but anyway... what if you told them a flight different, by knowing tomorrow's flight # they dont even ask for a time, just a flight number could you perhaps take the risk of saying you took an earlier flight? - and so you just must take care of your own luggage - not use ME yellow tags, you would have to grab your luggage off the belts ( well bring it with you) I'm sure somebody has done this, but I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt share it... BUT then again, from your post, it seems awfully risky - I wouldnt want to be stranded at the terminal!!

It may be just me, but I'm sure a criminal mind I do not have, I may be way over thinking the whole thing!!! I just couldnt risk my vacation - we're booked at Pop, and now I"m more than happy!!

It looks like we'll probably do a cash ressie with some sort of discount (members, AAA or AP) whichever is cheapest :) With a 3 month old we don't want to move any further than BC over to the villas so a value or offsite is not in the cards this time. Thanks for the suggestions.
