"IF" I am right (and I 99% sure I am)... that isnt "just" a mill... thats Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway... (sigh.. beautiful place!!!!)

You are correct !! It is absolutely heaven, one of my fav places to visit. And they make some mean buckwheat pancakes there!!!

I love to photograph grist mills. Mabry Mill was this past fall. This coming fall DH and I are going to ride the down to Glade Creek Grist Mill in West Virginia.

they also make cornmeal cakes with bbq pork on them, a little weird if i recall, we should have stuck with buckwheat i guess

Actually, this past fall's buckcakes were, uh, different. We were there early in the season and the cakes we ate tasted like we had downed a shot of hard liquor. Not sure if buckwheat flour can furment, but something wasn't right. Maybe the flour was left over from the year before and it got hard . I did eat them all and not ***plain about them, but I was truly scared that I would be feeling like this before I walked out of the restaurant!!

Rome. Our guide called it the "Birthday Cake" bldg. I think Victor Emmanuel erected the building and is now undergoing a major renovation. The President (head of Italian govt.) was there the day we were and there was major security everywhere.
