Game On email - but no savings at all?

Hi,
I'm a newbie poster, have been a lurker for a couple of years and love all the info and news at the DIS. Today though, I had to register and ask this question because I think I must be missing something. We got our first ever email from disney destinations! It was an email with the Game-On graphics telling us about this great deal available for 1/5 to 31/5. Then it notes room rates as Value Resorts $114 per night, Disney Moderate Resorts $ 185 per night, Disney Deluxe Resorts $325 per night.

What? Those rates are higher than normal advertised rack rates for regular season! What gives?

I have read that email like 10 times, this is all I see.

Did you try hitting the book now button and pricing it out to compare it to what full price would be? (I'm assuming you've already priced out the trip/resort you want). It may be just an email, not a pin. I got a game on pin today, but in the top right corner it says save 10%, then a few lines below it lists the 15 digit pin code. If you don't have the 16 digit pin anywhere then it's most likely just a sales pitch to encourage you to book. I received an email like that last week, but today got another with a 10% off pin.

Like the PP said, look for that code. I've gotten several emails with no codes and several listed rates higher than the website. What a deal!

Yep, I got the same thing, through the mail. It makes it sound like an actual deal, with limited dates, and an actual code (not pin). Of course, the fact that these rates are higher than rack rate was a clue. Also, this great "deal" is only good for a two-week period, beginning the day after I got the offer in the mail.

I think the best part was how they specifically name the attractions that my family with enjoy when we come "in February", and Big Thunder Mountain is one of them. Of course it won't even be open. Oh, well.

I got the same thing through regular mail. They sure made it look like we were getting something special. But no special offer or pin. I looked up the rates and it was just rack rates. So disappointing!!!

Yeah, it looks like it was not really a pin. Just an ad. Maybe this means we will see actual pin's later on. We are thinking of our next trip for 2013 anyhow so we wouldn't likely use a pin in 2012. I wonder if they do get people booking with those 'deals' though? Sneaky Disney!

I also got a this in an email...the subject "A Magical Offer For The XXX Family" It contained a 3 letter/number code. When I called the CM told me this was not a discount, it was just an advertisement for Rack Rate Pricing for October(the month I selected to travel) I even started a thread (I Can't Believe Disney Would Stoop So Low)on here since I was so furious!!! Anyway, I have been following the thread "I received a PIN this morning" and seeing all of these dis'ers getting room discounts/FD etc from this 3 letter/number code. On a chance of luck I called back and played dumb and asked this very nice CM about this email I received...she told me it was for a room discount, then paused, and said "yea, its a room discount and depending on what category you book will determine the % off the room". So I told her to give me a quote on the Poly. She responded that Deluxes are 35% off!!!!! I booked then and there because I knew I technically did not get a room discount Code, I just got lucky with the right CM! So keep trying!!! Also, since booking I have called a few times to confirm that I can add add'l rooms under the Code(which I can) when asking about the % for Moderates and Values, the CM told me this is not a tier room discount, meaning I will get 35% off any category...Deluxe, Villas,Moderates or Values!!
