I have not flown since all the new regulations concerning liquids, but I also remember seeing something about electronics not being allowed. Can my kids take gameboys and Ipods on the plane? And, can I take my laptop with me on the plane? I certainly don't want to check it. Thanks for the info!!

Yes, you can use all of them except for at takeoff and landing when the flight attendant will make an announcement to turn off electronic devices.

Electronics were never banned on US domestic flights.

They can be carried in carryons. They may not be used from takeoff until cruising altitude, and not used during descent and landing.

And please respect your fellow passengers and use headphones and turn off any external audio for any electronics, including beeping toys.

I don't know where you saw something about electronics not being allowed, but it was in error. Electronics are indeed allowed on flights, although there are some restrictions on when you can use them. Also, no problem taking them through security but you will be asked to take your laptop out of the case and place it in its own plastic tray to send through the x-ray machine.

Thanks for everybody for the info! Gameboys make for a much more pleasant flight!

And please be sure its a pleasant flight for the rest of the passengers by making sure the sound is off or that headphones are used. Thanks!

Electronics were temporarily banned for people in UK flying to the US. They were only permitted to carry on a clear plastic baggie containing their passport and boarding pass only. I believe this has been lifted but if there are any Brits out there they could clarify this.

It was a three day ban, and again, the electronics restriction never impacted people flying domestically within the US. (only travellers leaving the UK)

Current carryon restrictions FOR FLIGHTS DEPARTING THE UK is one carryon, including handbag. Electronics are permitted.

The current UK rules are listed below, and again they do not apply in the US for domestic travellers

Passengers departing from or transferring through the UK may only take ONE piece of Hand Baggage

Due to airport security restrictions currently in place in the UK, only ONE piece of Hand Baggage will be permitted when departing from or transferring through the UK.

We will continue to keep you informed of any changes to the security restrictions.

Passengers travelling to the UK only

There are currently restrictions in place for passengers departing from the UK or connecting onto another flight in the UK. Please see above for further information.

These allowances apply for all passengers entering the UK only:

one standard-sized bag - maximum size of the bag, 56x45x25cm (22x18x10in)
plus one laptop or briefcase
NB. You must be able to lift your bag unaided into the aircraft overhead locker.
Cabin crew will assist customers with additional needs.
