This article is from yesterday. Bacteria in Galveston waters is an ongoing problem. There are actually signs on the beach there but they are not very visible. Lots of people swim in Galveston waters and that's grest. If I had no experience with Galveston, I would want to know of the bacterial issues so I do not go walk on the shoreline before a cruise, especially if there is a person in my party with diabetes or any auto immune issues. I do not think you need to be so dismissive. The OP said she had no knowledge of the port. If I asked that, I would want any information about the port people might have. Galveston beaches are not like Florida beaches, they have more bacteria. Just an FYI. No big deal.
