We are taking our kids for 8 nights in late June with 7 days in parks and MYW dining package. We plan to eat well.

Do you think we will
Gain weight
Lose weight
Break even?

Of course I know that everyone is different and all. Just wondering what ya'll thought on this one.

I starved myself for months to get to an acceptable weight for the trip, so when we got there I ate like a massively huge pig!! But that was my plan all along! One the best things about Disney is the food! Needless to say, I broke even at the end of the trip (probably from all the walking). But when I got home, it took me several months to stop eating like I was in Disney and it's taken me almost a year to get back where I was before the last trip! I'm predicting this trip will be the same and I can't wait!!

your gonna get fat and sassy

I ate all the time down in the "World", and ended up losing weight! I think it was massive amout of walking we did...I never walk that much at home on the treadmill, so my body was just burning up calories. I wouldn't worry about gaining weight while you're there, your on vacation. :mickeybar

Today, in Northern IL, it was really hot and muggy for the first time this year and my daughter and I ate a little fruit this morning and a smoothie for lunch 'cause it was too hot to even eat. Needless to say, I'm sure it will be even hotter and muggier down in Central Florida next week!! But maybe our appetities (or lack of) will prevail... :)

We usually end up just eating 2 meals per day when in WDW, and a couple of snacks in between. We don't starve by any means, just too busy to want to stop and sit for 3 meals a day. We usually end up losing about 7-10 pounds per trip, about a pound per day. We don't usually walk that much anywhere else, walk about a mile each night during warm weather at home.

When we went for our DisneyMoon, we ate like pigs and I ended up losing five pounds during the trip. Between all the walking we did, I'm sure I burned off most of my meals in the parks.

Also, we didn't get those usual "midnight" snacks, because we were too tired to get out of bed. LOL

I'm betting that you'll lose a pound or two. You don't realize how much walking you do in WDW until the last day of your trip.

This year, I think I'm going to take a step-counter (LOL, can't remember technical term for it, something-ometer) and see how many steps I walk while on vacation.

I have to say - Ive never done a direct comparision as after a 9 hour flight I usually have about 10lbs of water fluid stuck in my legs!! :confused3  :guilty:

But, I would say that we have never put on weight at WdW.. we always come back at least breaking even.. no matter what we eat..

we do so much more excercise at Disney than at home!! Then after we get back from the parks, we go swimming...

Plus obviously shopping burns a lot of calories ;) :rotfl2:

I exercise quite often at home, so when I went to Disney World, the walking was not enough for what my body was used to and I gained about 2 pounds. My boyfriend, however, does not do as much exercising at home as me and he ended up loosing 4 pounds at Disney World.

I did take a pedometer with me to clock our miles everyday. We were at Disney World for 11 full days and in total we walked almost 123 miles, which averages out to just over 11 miles per day!

I used to lose 5-10 pounds each trip, no matter how much we ate.

Last trip, I broke even. We ate alot of delicious meals & spent alot of downtime, but I think the main reason was that it really wasn't much more walking than I do at home & I didn't do any running or resistance, which I do do at home....When I used to lose every trip, I wasn't doing any cardio/treadmill, so walking around WDW was a big difference in calorie burn for me.

I usually break even. I eat like a pig, but do not exercise much at home. All that walking really does help!!!

I usually gain 1 lb per day on our trips. I eat and drink everything I want, which I dont do at home, plus I dont work out daily like I usually do.

Surprisingly I broke even on my last trip this March. We ate most breakfasts in our hotel room (cereal and fruit), and I stuck to bringing fruit with me for snacks (I'm on WW) I still ate what I wanted for the most part. I guess all the walking did it for me, and I also drank a lot of water.

When I went last June, halfway through the trip I tripped and tore a ligament in my foot (don't ask). I had to be pushed in a wheelchair for the remainder of the trip, which was about 3 days in the park. I definitely gained weight on that trip- about 5-8 lbs.

Im usually ok when we go for 7-9days
This Aug however DS & I will be at WDW 14nights! And I have a sneaky suspicion our 2nd wk will have some heavy duty partying!
Im thinking of stepping on those scales at VWL & BCV just to get a starting point and checking back a few times during those 2 wks.
I do wear a pedometer and make sure I get my daily steps. Im a walker at home and that doesnt change on vacations.

I try to drop a few pounds before I go...just in case I gain a few pounds. Becaue, like you, we plan on eating well. Good food and lots of it. You will be doing a lot of walking, so that helps. Usually I break even, or gain 2-3 pounds...which is fine if I managed to lose the pounds prior to the trip. Before I started worrying about this and doing anything about it, I found that I was gaining 2-4 pounds each trip. Not good...since we go a couple times a year. That weight will add up, right?

I wish the food at WDW were calorie free somehow. I love to eat.

We usually break all diet rules and eat well, but I never seem to gain any weight! :rotfl: Must be all that walking and swimming we do!

With all of the WALKING off-setting all of the EATING, we have always "broke even" at WDW.
