GAD Voucher Question

Question: we have a resort ressie that includes the 1d myw tix so we could use a free dining pin. I was told by the CM(after I told her we had the GAD vouchers) that once we get to the resort, we can turn in our vouchers and upgrade the tix using the GAD voucher. So we would end up paying $149+tax for a 5d base myw ticket/adult ($228-$79GAD = $149) is this correct?

Sort of. You can:

upgrade your GAD voucher to a 5-day MYW base ticket

receive a credit of $79 per adult, so your total cost per adult ticket is $149 + 6.5% tax

You can't:

do this at the resort. GAD vouchers must be redeemed at Will Call at one of the four main parks.

use your 1-day package tickets combined with your GAD vouchers (not sure if you were suggesting that).

The GAD vouchers can be redeemed for one day tickets. You can then upgrade the ticket you receive to a MYW ticket of whatever number of days and options you choose. You will pay the gate price minus $79 for an adult ticket, plus tax. The tickets from your package will not be used at all. They will not expire until used and can be used and upgraded on another trip.

The current public free dining offer requires the purchase of a two-day ticket per person. Did you book under this offer or under a unique PIN that maybe only required a one-day ticket?

I booked it using a pin code that only required a one day tix....why won't they allow us to use the 1day tix we already purchased with our package along with the GAD voucher? That is what I've been planning on doing based on the information I received

By definition an upgrade is taking one ticket and adding cash (or similar) and ending up with one ticket with more entitlements. You cannot combine two tickets to get one ticket with more features.*

And the GAD voucher may be redeemed only at a Park Ticket or Guest Relations Window and must be used the day of issue.

* The only exception to this rule is at the water parks where you can combine a one day water park ticket with a base or hopping MYW ticket and a payment to end up with a MYW ticket with the WPF&M option. Your payment will be the difference in price between the one day water park ticket and the cost of the WPF&M option plus tax on the difference.

Cheshire Figment is actually a ticketing CM as well as a DISer, so you get the best of both worlds!

Call center CMs typically wouldn't know the intricacies of the ticketing system, but they should tell you they don't know instead of trying to answer a question they are not sure about.
