GAD upgrade to 3 day parkhopper

Sorry, I know there have been a lot of questions about GAD vouchers, and I have searched on this, but I'm still confused. I'm trying to figure out the logistics of upgrading a GAD voucher to a 3 day parkhopper.

My friend and I are going to DL for 3 days in May (it's her gift to me for being her maid of honor!). We both have GAD vouchers. Does it make the most sense for us to upgrade our vouchers to 3 day parkhoppers? Is that something we could do our first morning before entering the parks, redeem our vouchers, then upgrade them to 3 day parkhoppers that we could start using that day?

It would be $204(3 day hopper gate price)-$72(value of 1 day/1park ticket)=$132 for us to upgrade our tickets, right?

It seems to good to be true. If we, on our first day, pay $132 to upgrade to a 3 day hopper, we'd also get to park hop the first day, and have a magic morning........versus using our 1 day/1 park ticket the first day and separately paying $151 for a two day park hopper (thus no hopping first day and no magic morning). So am I missing something?

And if it does make the most sense for us to upgrade our vouchers, is that something we can just do all at once at one ticket booth? Or do we have to redeem our vouchers somewhere then go somewhere else to upgrade them?

As far as I know you can upgrade when you redeem your voucher and be on your merry park-hopping way!! And yes you would pay the $132. Have a fabulous trip!!

Wow OP--I had some of the EXACT same questions, except for these 2:

1) We're getting in late Weds. night, 12/8--around 8 PM. Can we go to the ticket booth that night and do the voucher redemption/upgrade to a 3-day park hopper that night, even though we're not going to use the 3-day park hopper until the next morning (Thurs. 12/9)???? Or do we HAVE to use the "upgraded" 3-day PH on the day we redeem the voucher.

2) We plan to be in the parks 3 days--12/9, 12/10 & 12/11 with our "upgraded" 3-day PH. However, one of the black out dates on the voucher is 12/11--the 1D/1Park voucher can't be redeemed on 12/11. Do you think 12/11 will be an issue with our 3-day PH that we got by upgrading our GAD voucher?

Ok, just got off the phone w/ DL....answered my own 2 questions! So I thought I'd share:

1) You risk "using" your 1st day of your 3 Day PH on the night you redeem/upgrade your GAD voucher to a 3 Day PH, since the computer will think that evening is your 1st day...so wait until the next morning/1st park day to do the redemption/upgrade.

2) The 12/11 blackout date will NOT be affected by the voucher/upgrade to 3 day PH, since the GAD voucher itself is not being redeemed on the 12/11 blackout date. On 12/11 our 3 day park hopper will be treated as any normal park hopper...not treated as a GAD voucher.
