We will be at WDW over Spring Break, the week before Easter. We are going during the blackout dates. Here is my question, I know we can't get tickets during that time, but could we get the fastpasses to use during that time?

As far as it is known at this point, the blackout dates apply to the GAD vouchers in general, not just the free ticket.

Followup: I checked with Cheshire Figment, and the word is that you cannot turn in a GAD voucher at all on a blackout day, even for one of the options.

Ugh! :scared1: That conflicts with the information I was given on the phone last week by Disney.
I'd love to see something definitive in writing, we were really excited that the answer given on the phone was affirmative for fastpass availability during the blackout. Disney will reap greater financial benefits from our family if they allow the fastpass option- otherwise we will head down 2 days earlier than planned, use the voucher for a day at Disney just before blackout begins, then head to Universal for a couple of days, then return to Disney to upgrade our single GAD tics to a 4 or 5 multi day ticket. The fastpass option costs Disney nothing, the other way it will cost Disney 4 (family members) x $79.
Which answer shoud I count on as being correct (probably these boards as usual )- I need to make firm travel plans soon!

I currently work at the gate at one of the theme parks. I spoke separately to two Guest Services Managers. These GSMs have responsibility for turnstile greeters, ticket sales, and Guest Relations. Each told me separately that since the Fastpasses and pins are a substitute for the tickets, the blockout dates apply to them as well as the tickets.

When you call on the phone your will get a call center; there are multiple centers for 407-W-DISNEY and basically if you call anything unless you know an actual person's extension you are getting the Main Switchboard (and this includes calling the Resort with the number on your confirmation).

What the GSMs say, or at least believe, to be the case essentially trumps all, because they are the ones the ticket CMs will defer to.

Unfortunately if Disney decides it wants the options to be available on the blackout dates, they'll need to definitively communicate that to the GSMs.

Since the blackout dates are likely to be some of the busiest times in the park this year, I can see why FPs may not be permitted either (although they'd be more desirable)...
