Gad + ap + dvc

Okay, tell me if this is the correct way to use the GAD voucher. We will arrive at OKW around 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 25th. We have no plans for that afternoon plus we might be waiting to get in our rooms since check-in time is 4:00pm. DW and I are new DVC members and are going to get AP's. We thought we would take the boat over to Downtown Disney to get our AP's. Is this how the process will go....redeem our GAD for a one day ticket. Then use that one day ticket to apply against AP with the DVC discount. If I have calculated the price correctly, our AP will only cost $330.15.
$489.00 - Annual Pass
(100.00) - DVC discount
( 79.00) - GAD credit
$310.00 - AP price before 6.5% FL tax
$330.15 - AP price with tax

Can we do all of this at Guest Services at DTD?

Almost...however, you cannot redeem the GAD ticket at DTD, it can only be done at one of the parks. So you'll need to make a side trip to one of them to do what you need, and you can take care of all of it at the park.

Yes...

There is a general rule that you need to get the 1-day ticket, then use it first before upgrading, but if you are upgrading to an AP anyways the CM will often do it in the same transaction while you are there. The AP will be activated on that day.

Can I use my GAD towards my AP renewal?

APs expire on 09-18, I am going to DW on 08-27, I was planning on renewing before 08-15 (online) to get the extra few months free, but I do have a GAD.

ANy thoughts of how to get the 79$ off and renew before the extra 3 months promo runs out?

Yes, you CAN apply the GAD ticket towards an AP renewal, but ONLY if you do it in person. But you should be all set in that regard...you can renew your AP starting 8/19 or 8/20 (within 30 days of expiration - I'm not sure if that is inclusive of the expiration date or not), so you can renew it when you arrive.

The 3 month offer expires after 8/31, so you'll have 4 days to do it.

we are here now. we used my husbands gad voucher towards his dvc renewal. we walked to international gateway and handed them the voucher, the blue member card, the old ap, his picture ID and our credit card. No problem. we got the 15 months (since we were renewing his AP). no need to use the voucher first since everything had his name on it. the cm referred to the voucher as a $80 coupon. It was easy and simple. Since we've done the renewal many years, we pretty much know the drill. It was nice paying about $280 for his AP this year.
