OK -- this really doesn't have to do with Disney, other than we're going soon and are getting the MoHo ready and de-winterized. But I know some here will sympathize.

This is the year we need to replace the tires. We bought it used 2 years ago and we knew that the tires would need to be replaced within 2 years. So we called the tire guy and got the lowdown. $1000 for six tires, installation, and balancing. Can you say ouch?

We have the money so it's not like this will be a debt thing, but still. Ouch. I just keep trying to tell myself 2 things. First, we got such a great deal when we bought the unit that even with the tire cost, we're still ahead. Second, $1000 is nothing if a tire were to blow and rip off our sidewall or damage someone else's vehicle. And I'd really rather not test out our roadside assistance plan on the way to Disney!!! At least we won't have to do this again for another five years or so.

Yeah that is a big chunk of change!! I have F350 with dual wheels, so I feel your pain. But divide $1000 by 6 and that's not a bad price for truck tires mounted and balanced.

You're right, it ain't bad per tire. It's just that it's all at once. The previous owner replaced the tires in a haphazard fashion, just replacing them randomly, not all the front at one time and then all the back (which is how I always do tires so they're evenly worn). Anyway, we decided to just do them all now and then we can get on a schedule next time and do just the fronts one year and then all the back tires the next, spreading the pain out a little bit.

I suggest if you can, buy the roadhazard insurance. My friends have a Class C and have tire problems a lot. They always get the insurance as it pays for itself. He also always goes to a national chain so he can go there if something happens far away from home.

I'd love to replace our tires for $1,000. We're going to have to replace ours in the next year or so, and we're looking at $3,000+!

You might want to check with tire dealer who has fleet customers. A lot of fleets will change out tires on new tractors when they are delivered. I used to buy these take-offs for my tractor when I was driving. I usually saved $50-$100 per tire for tires that might have 200 miles on them.

Hmmm. That makes me feel better. At least I know it could be worse! :lmao: (But I feel bad for you).
