Hi everyone! We leave for the House of Mouse on Sunday and I couldn't be more excited! I can't sleep at all, and we're still DAYS away!

Question: I tore my plantar fascia (the tendon that runs along the bottom of your foot), and I'm currently wearing a "boot." Do you think that would qualify me for a Guest Assistance Card? The podiatrist seemed to think so, but I thought I'd check with you, too.

Thank you! Four more sleeps until we leave!! :yay::yay::yay:

Generally speaking any visible aid is enough for CMs to see your needs. The boot should allow you to access handicap entrances. But in my experience, not all CMs are aware of this. It might be helpful to get a GAC as sometimes I was asked for one even though I had a huge boot on my leg due to a fractured ankle. At the advice of a City Hall CM I did get a GAC with a handicap stamp. Sometimes the boot was enough and other times they wanted to see my GAC.

Obviously a GAC can't help with all the walking you do while at the Resort. Are you planning on renting an ECV or wheelchair? If so, that acts as a GAC as well. I hope you have a good time!

Thanks, Arch! Really, it doesn't hurt too bad, and the boot is mostly to remind me to take it easy. I figure that if I really start hurting, I'll rent a wheelchair, but I hope to avoid that.

I'll go for the GAC. I assume you get them at City Hall?

Yes, either City Hall (Guest Relations ) at DL or Chamber of Commerce (Guest Relations) at DCA. DCA usually has a much shorter line.
