Okay, I need to know something. I read Cheshire's post about the subject, but this is what I would like to know...
I have heat intolerance. BAD. Would I be allowed to wait in the shade with my family in line, and be able to catch up to them when they reach the front (or shaded) part of the line?
I don't want to skip line, my family is willing to wait in the normal line, I just need to be out of the heat until our turn comes up.
Thanks in advance for any answers I can get.

it is VERY difficult to make your way through the line once your family has moved up. just as an example, in many lines in the MK, my wheelchair takes up the WHOLE width of the line, and you would not be able to get by without climbing over me, which i will not allow (too dangerous with my disability)...

I would get a GAC, just in case...

it is ALWAYS hot in Florida- unless you are going in December or January
Unless we have a freakish cold snap -which did happen this year

it is not just HOT waiting in line it is HOT walking from Future World to World showcase-
it is HOT walking from frontierland to Tomorrowland
it is HOT while walking fom the great movie ride to Star tours..

Most lines have shade- unless you are sooooooo far back that there is an hour or longer wait- some don't have shade like Dumbo/ Nemo show at AK but those without shade/ overhangs/ tarps to block out sun are few and far between- even lion king has trees for shade

My suggestion is a good touring plan, sunscreen, a big hat, FAST PASSES, lots of water-maybe a misty fan..possibly renting an ECV or WC to conserve energy-
lines can be hot and sweaty but it's gonna be HOT all over if you go in a HOT time of the year.

Do be aware that temperatures in June (your sig line suggests you're going in 44 days, which is AFTER June 1st) can easily, and regularly, be above 90 degrees.

As others have said, there is NOT alot of shade between lands in the MK, throughout much of WS or DHS. FW always SEEMS to me to be a bit better, but that's assuming that the lines are short enough that you're inside rather than outside (thinking about the queues for TestTrack, Energy Adventure, and Mission Space, in particular).

You probably really want to structure your visit with significant time out of the sun between 2 and 4 most days (Energy Adventure is fairly long, has air conditioning, and is dark- naptime- in the "old" days, it used to break down regularly- ok if you were ON the ride, not so good if you were outside waiting).

Another tip to avoid the heat is to get to the parks at rope drop, go to the attractions that are 'must do' for your family, and then leave the park by lunchtime. After a nice cooldown at the pool or nap in the room, you head back around 4PM to stay until closing.

Another way to avoid the heat exhaustion is to rent an ECV to keep you from exertion/heating by all the walking between attractions. Also, ducking into the stores to soak up some AC really helps!

If it is “heat” that is the problem then the time you select to be in the parks is your best “defense”, but if the issue is the direct radiant impact from the sun on you this may sound silly but a good old fashioned large collapsible parasol (hope I spelled that right) might be the best option, the only problem is that all the other guest in line might be trying to get in its shade also.

I have issues with both heat and sun. I wear a wide brim hat and a cooling vest that my pt helped me get. I also go early and/or late. You won't find me in the park in the middle of the day! The one day I needed to be there for a "meet", I rested in first aid until time for me to meet up with my party.

I also plan strategically and use fast pass a lot!

Yes, I have the plan in place and intend to spend lunch breaks (2 or 3 hours) in a pool or by an airconditioner.
I'm usually ok if I keep moving, it's stopping and still being hot that puts me down (literally). I just don't know if a GAC will work for this situation.
Oh Figment? Where are you? And will you upgrade my 4/3 tickets too?

If you have not read the disABILITIES FAQs thread about GACs, it is in post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

As the other posters mentioned, having a cool place to wait, out of the sun is a problem at some parks.
Epcot is the best as far as waiting, since most of the lines are actually inside of buildings. A GAC might help you at Epcot since the CM at the entrance could allow you to enter the line once the line actually gets into the building.
MK has very limited space, so trying to join the line later in the wait gets much more difficult.
AK just feels hot in general because it has a lot of fairly narrow paths, lots of vegetation and lots of people

The Studio is kind of in the middle. Most of the lines are covered, but many are still outside for a while.

Besides the things other posters mentioned, you may find it helpful to use a service like Tour Guide Mike, which would help you to be in the busiest places when many less people are there.
