I just wanted to share some very recent experiences from our trip last week. DD, 11, has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. We did not get a GAC when we arrived at the parks...I know I should have...but honestly I forgot. In the past, we have picked up a GAC card on first arrival to parks and never had to show it. Anyway, I was surprised at some of the lack of knowledge from some of the cast members about wheelchair entrances, etc. There were a couple of rides that I would ask the CM at the entrance to the que if there was a wheelchair entrance. (I feel pretty comfortable about most ride entrances, but there were some rides my DD went on this time that she hadn't in the past...so I had to ask.) I had a couple of CM's tell me..."well, if you have a fast pass you can go in the fast pass line."
But, what was more frustrating was getting in the "regular" que (as directed by a CM), only to be pulled out of the line by another CM to put us in the wheelchair line!
Oh well, I guess next time I will get the GAC...who knows if I will need to show it or not. I think what bothered me the most was some of the short, frustrated replies by some of the CM's. One was down right rude...I basically felt like he was saying...I don't believe you because you don't have a GAC. It's rather obvious with my DD that she's not in the chair for fun! Anyway, overall we had a great trip! Mental note to self: remember to get the GAC!
