We're heading to wdw in sept with our three boys. Our oldest (who will be a couple weeks shy of 9) has developmental co-ordination disorder and sensory integration disorder (and a couple of learning disabilities). I'm trying to decide if a GAC would be a useful thing to get.

We are lucky enough to have a very large, very busy, theme park close to home that we have taken him to in the past. Last year he was very good about standing in lines and finding other things to do with our youngest son and me while our middle son rode the thrill rides that he loves with daddy, that ds8 just cant do with his special needs (anything that spins or goes upside down will have him out of sorts for hours!). We went last year and he only had one very minor meltdown, which we managed to snap him out of fairly quickly. I'm wondering if/how a gac would be beneficial to us.

My husband and I have discussed it, and right now we're thinking we won't bother to bet one, but should I?

It can't hurt. Consider it an insurance policy. Go to Guest Relations in the first park with him and explain his needs. They will issue something that should work. But you don't have to use it unless it is needed for a particular attraction.

A GAC is not the same thing for everyone. It does not provide the same accommodations to everyone. So no one can really say if it would benefit your family without knowing specifically what sort of needs your son has and how you think those could be accommodated.

Since GAC really only covers rides and attractions and it doesn't sound like you're waiting in the longest/most crowded lines with him anyway. Really, spend time thinking about what needs your son has and then you'll be prepared to list those needs to guest services and they'll tell you if they can accommodate those needs.
