My wife suffers from visual birth defects that are somewhat corrected for near vision (up to about 25 - 30 feet) with contact lenses combined with glasses, but is drastically worse at longer distances. Is it possible to get a GAC for use at shows and performances? If she is further than the 8th or 10th row, most shows are simply un-watchable for her. Thank you for any information.

Hi, and :welcome: to disABILTIES!

You might want to click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including about Guest Assistance Cards.

Basically if she goes into the Guest Relations Office inside any of the four major parks and tells one of the CMs that she has vision problems and needs to sit near the front at shows they will issue her a GAC that is good for the entire party (but not more than six people) for the length of stay at WDW. The card will be good in all four parks and will have a stamp that will indicate to CMs what her needs are.

Echo'ing the above: Disney has plenty of accomodations in place for the visually impaired including: Braille maps, audiocassette players, and other assistances. Explain your needs and the type of assisstance you are requesting to a cast member at any Guest Relations location and they will tell you what kind of things they can do to help.

Best,
Vem
