GAC Changes

From what I heard/read..Moderators will be locking all posts referring to this change (for now)
Change is always inevitable & maybe Disney will come up with some covered, seating areas to help ppl w.disabilities wait until it's their FP time, so if they have difficulty ambulating, they can have a nice place to sit & relax!!

Sounds like there's not much to know yet. For instance, nothing about how the GAC addresses my particular needs has been released yet.

so this is very bad , i know change happens but really at the expense of our familys who enjoy disney but have issues beyond our control, take my son he cant wait in a long line b/c of cerebal palsy (although minor in nature) go ..he still can not wait in line -- so what do i do tell him we cant go to disney anymore--tell him disney doesnt help those that have issues (no matter minor), so NOW, we the parents of kids who have a issue beyond our control, get penalized b/c people abuse the system by hiring people to fill the role of an injured family member --- and then come on here and find that the threads are being closed Down..WHY--because this topic is too controversial for the Happy Dis Boards...B/C we dont want to piss off the "company"..thats BS --- isnstead of closing the threads -- we should start a campaign to change not just take this b/c we think that b/c its Disney it will work it self out? What about ADA...do think that by giving you a reservation you can go sit somewhere and come back--try explaining that to a 9yo who waited over a year to come --because they raised the price to boot..and thats whole other story.

Your son can still go but he would possibly need to ride in a stroller, wheelchair or ECV depending on age. I have a son with mild CP and we have always been able to do fine without a GAC for him but we are lucky to have a few school breaks at very slow times so in the morning hours we can do plenty with some ice cream breaks and then we rest for a few hours in the afternoon. It's different but it may turn out OK. They've always encouraged people with endurance issues to ride rather than get a a GAC because besides the lines there is so much other walking.

i am sure that we could , but, why should people be penalized be/c other's are dishonest -- it really just stinks that this has time to be the new norm --- that last time we went , we did get a GAC --with a letter--from our pediatrician---and it killed us to do that--but at that time we knew his legs couldnt cope ---and we wanted him to be able to enjoy ---we would not "cheat" the system..it just seems unfair...

What about children who have autism and ritual issues?
It's going to be very very hard for family's who have visited on a regular basis to now explain to anyone with those issues that the GAC won't help for these issues!
I was all for some kind of change to lesson the abuse but this is too far the other way!

How will a child or adult with autism or other mental disabilities grasp that they have to now Q twice? Once to get the FP then another wait before getting in the Q to wait again?

Could the CMs have not written the times or issued FPs at the rides like universal does, instead we have to chris cross between kiosk and ride!
This will be tiring frustrating and in no way will help certain disabilities I for one am dreading our trip at end of October while they work out the kinks.
