GAC and Baby Swap?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered numerous times, but my searching has been in vain.

In September we will be traveling to the World for my DS7 birthday. He is a brain injury survivor. We will get him the GAC because he is unable to wait in lines in the general lines. We went last January and it worked perfectly.

I just found out today that my 20 month old grand daughter will be able to make the trip with us after all! Woo Hoo!

Now my problem...DS is happy that he is finally tall enough to ride some rides that he was unable to last visit, but GD will not be able to . I understand we can use the baby swap for these rides, but how does that work with the GAC? Normally we all wait with DS in the 'quiet place' until our turn to ride (sometimes this is just the fast pass line when crowds are low). Will they allow a baby swap from this quiet place? I suppose they allow baby swap from fast pass line, so this really wouldn't be much more different than that, but I want to make sure we have all the logistics down before we go.

The trip will be a lot more enjoyable for everyone if DS knows a head of time what to expect. I do not want him to dislike the idea of GD coming on the trip.

Thanks in advance for the information and help. I cannot imagine a trip without advice and help from here!

Last week at Splash Mountain I asked for a baby swich pass, the CM took one look at my gac (3 stamps) and told me that one was not need and to give the gac to the person waiting and they would then use the same line as the gac allowed.

The baby swap depends on the ride but usually the party shows up at the greeter and gets the baby swapping pass. Normally the party waits in line while the babysitter goes off to do other stuff. The party can use GAC, single rider, stand-by or fastpass lines/entrances. When they are done normally the babysitter and one person take the baby swapping pass to the exit and ride immediately.

Since your son could go through the exit all the babysitter would have to do is take your son through the exit and immediately wait with in a few minutes thus meaning he would not need the GAC. If he was in a chair for example then the babysitter and your son would use the exit unless it was not disabled friendly then he would use the GAC entrance.

Just take the party to greeters and they will explain everything to you. It would actually be faster for your son to wait with the babysitter then go through the exit with the babysitter and ride almost immediately with the baby swapping pass. Some rides may not use the exit for this pass.

We just got back last night and had a similar issue with GAC/baby swap while we were there. I have two children with Autism but they both have different issues, one is over sensitive and one is under sensitive. We found that my younger son LOVED the roller coaster rides while my older son screamed when we even mentioned going on them. We also have a service dog.

On Splash Mountain (for example) we all stood in line until getting down to the CMs. At that point I showed them the GAC and explained that we needed to "baby swap" the older child and the dog. I stood off to the side while DH and younger son went on the ride and then when the ride was over DH and I switched places and I went on the ride with younger son while DH took older son and Service dog and left the ride area. They were fine with this and we did it for several rides. The only one we had a bit of issue with was TMRR because you get off on the opposite side, they just escorted DH and younger son over to us and everything was fine.

The funny thing was the only rides we had any trouble with were the rides for younger kids. I'm pretty sure it was because they rarely had requests for baby swaps on those rides (Pooh, Peter Pan, Snow White) and when we told them we wanted to baby swap the dog they looked at us like they had no idea what we were talking about. So DH just waited with the dog and didn't go. Not a big deal, we were flexible.

Hope you have a great time!!

There are also differences depending on the height requirement for the attraction. For those without a height requirement, they may allow your whole party to go in at the same time and then deal with the switchers afterward.

Sometimes, if a ride loads and unloads in a different area, they will have just the people who are riding in the line and give you a "Rider's Switch" ticket that allows the person who was waiting and some other members of your party to switch and go in when the first group is done riding. They may do the same thing if the child doesn't meet the height requirements because they usually don't want children who are too small in the line.
