I need to pick a G rated movie for the kids to watch and it can't be Disney or Pixar. I am just at a loss. The guy said to think Dreamworks, warner bro, etc.

Please I need your suggestions for G rated movie for the kids to see.

How old are the kids?

Setting? school, party, scouts, kids in a van?

How many kids?

It is going to be hard!

If they are youngish maybe 3rd grade and under the Land before Time series are fabulous!!!

PBS has lots of fun things.. Clifford, Arthur, Angelina Ballerina
Any Peanuts movie.. "Snoopy Come Home" is a classic :)
Old time stuff is still fun.. Smurfs, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Jetsons, Pippi Longstocking, Shirley Temple movies, Schoolhouse Rock

Barbie, Thomas, Cabbage Patch Kids, Little People are some things I can think of that we have. Hard to know when we don't know the ages or how much time you have, or the occasion.

I would probably just go to the library and look around. Why can't it be Disney?

An entire class room of 1st graders mostly 6 - 7 years old. 16 Students.

It is a birthday party at the local theater which is very old but still can hold the kids and they can have fun.

They can't show Disney or Pixar because of the rules that they keep the movie the entire week. They are not allow to show just a matinee and I can't afford the week of a movie. I was disappointed to say the least because we love Disney.

Both my kids (boy and girl) loved the Land Before Time movies and it would be easy to do a whole theme around them.

I had a few good suggestions on FB so far:
cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Where the wild things are
Happy Feet
Over the hedge
Surfs up
Madagascar 2
Hotel for dogs

The non-disney favorite at our house is The Wizard of Oz.

Sigh...love love love Surf's Up. Though there are poop jokes and The Tank is kind of, um, weird about his trophies. But it's a beautifully animated movie (I am a huge Pixar fan, but Surf's Up IMO is better than anything Pixar has done yet) and it's a lovely story...

I'd go with any of the Shrek movies or Madagascar movies. My dds 8,5 love them, and they are funny enough for the adults to watch them too.

I'd say Shrek or Madagascar too, but I think they are both rated pg aren't they? DD also loves Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but I think it is a pretty long movie.

Homeward Bound
Chicken Run
Babe
Ferngully
American Tail
Any of the Land Before Time movies
Charlottes Web
Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Wizard of Oz
Adventures of Milo and Otis
Sound of Music

I too was going to suggest:
Babe
Ferngully
American Tail
Land Before Time
Milo and Otis

and I was also going to suggest:
Rock-A-Doodle
All Dogs go to Heaven
Secret of Nimh
A Troll in Central Park
Once Apon a Forest
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

What about: Goonies, How to Eat Fried Worms or Adventures in Babysitting? There alot of old movies that they may like.

Goonies is totally scary!

Good call on the PG thing, FD. I didn't realize that Surfs Up was PG. But obviously I did know there was something up with it, since I warned about the jokes and Tank. :)

Wow, there are so few actual G rated movies that are not Disney!

How about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Is that non-Disney?

Although DH is not here he suggested Astro Boy???? Sounds like a boy movie but has someone seen it?

I was going to say that my 5yr. old loves Madagascar but it is rated PG as well! I looked through a few movies (mostly all Disney at our house..lol) and I did find "Spirit". Not sure if you have ever heard of it, but it is about horses.

It is made by the same people that made Shrek, but it is nothing like it. My kids do love this movie and it is rated G. It is a really touching(although very fun at times too) movie that appeals to my ds's and dd.
