Is it possible to book Genie+ at 7am (from home) on arrival day? If so, anything special I need to do or does the system automatically recognize that’s your arrival day?

Yes. No. As long as you have a park reservation for your arrival day you will be able to purchase Genie+.

Anyone can book Genie+ Lightning Lane (G+LL) attractions starting at 7:00 a.m. of the day they have a park reservation. You do not need to be staying "onsite." If, however, you want to book Individual Lightning Lane Selections (ILL$), it matters whether you are staying onsite (including select hotels) or not. The MDE system should know whether you are staying onsite or not, if you have linked your resort reservation to your account and done an online check-in. You do not necessarily need to have arrived and physically checked into your hotel. I'm not sure what happens if you have not done an online check-in. If MDE doesn't know you have a resort reservation, you'll have to wait until park open to book your ILL$.

I have heard an account of someone staying onsite, but they did not do online check-in and they had trouble booking their ILL$ on arrival day. So best to make sure you've done the online check-in in case that really is a factor.

You can do online check in now, if you wish. If you look at your resort reservation, there should be a link to 'start' or complete online check in. It is more useful when done in advance.
