Hi...

A few days ago I asked about a plan I had to take ME from airport to Contemporary (even though we're staying at Pop) in order to go to Chef Mickey's. A Diser replied that you have to take ME to your reserved resort.

I just got off the phone with a CM and she checked for me and, yes you have to take ME to your reserved resort HOWEVER, if you have dining reservations at another resort you can take ME to the resort with the dining reservations. All you have to do is show the CM at ME your dining reservation and they will let you go on the ME bus you need to.

We're arriving early at airport (9:05am) and I was able to get 11:15 ADRs at Chef Mickey's - DS favorite restaurant and it is his birthday trip. So according to CM I can take Contemporary ME from airport to make reservation. Plus we have APs so we can go straight to MK from Chef Mickey's and head back to POP later in day.....

I know if flight is delayed or there is a very long wait at ME we could miss or be late for ADR...but I can always call Disney from airport if there is a delay.

This is good to know! If you are able to I would love to hear back from you after you've actually done it and let us know how it went- like did they give you a hassle at the airport ME check in or just wave you through, that kinda thing. Thanks!

Years ago the airline we were on went bankrupt at 12:01AM on the day of our scheduled flight. We were one of hundreds of people at the airport trying to find new flights into Orlando. I had no way to know if or when we would be getting to CM for our ADR so I called and explained it to them. We were many hours late to MCO and a few hours late to CM but they honored our ADR. Not saying that would still happen just thought I'd share that it could.

Phone CMs are often wrong. If your information is correct, then it is a HUGE change in how things have been done for years. This has never been allowed and people have been flat out told no when they have asked about it.

So honestly, I would never count on it working.

Plus, if you miss that ADR, you will be charged a no show fee.

So if you want to take the chance, then do so. I never would.

I wouldn't make any plans based on what a phone CM told you. They are very often completely wrong.

Yeah, I've had a phone CM tell me the same thing. And then the DME CMs at the airport said nope, only the resort you're booked at, but they'd be happy to help me get a cab (at my expense, of course). I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't care, but you might with your timeframe.

If you took ME straight to dinner, what would you do with your luggage? I imagine they wouldn't deliver your luggage to your resort without you there?

Something to keep in mind...phone CMs continually give out info that is wrong. I would have to wonder if this works in reverse.....if you have an ADR at, say, Chef Mickeys, on your departure day, but you are staying at Boardwalk, will they now allow you to leave from the CR? If this is the case, it is really interesting to see how this plays out.
But, it's nothing I would count on. I can just see it now....the guest arrives at the DME checkin podium. They are supposed to be on the bus to Pop, but have an ADR at CM's in an hour. So, they show the DME person their ADR....the DME CM looks at it and says it not possible to get on the CR bus...the guest must get on the bus to Pop. Is the guest going to then say that they were told they could do that, by a phone CM?

A great example of bad info....I called Disney to set up a Yuletide Fantasy Tour. I needed to get to the front of Epcot to meet the tour group and was staying at BWVs. The CM told me I could take a bus to the front of Epcot. I said. 'From Boardwalk?' ' Yes ma'm. But please plan on it taking up to 90 mins.' I asked if I could enter via the International Gateway. 'No Ma'm. You can't do that until the World Showcase opens at 11:00. You have to take the bus to the front of the park.' I said that I was under the impression that there were no buses to Epcot from Boardwalk. I was told that there are buses to every park, from every resort...doesn't make a difference what the resort is...just be sure to leave enough time.
Now, understand.....I know exactly how transportation at WDW works...I know how to get to Epcot from BW.....having done it many, many times. So, imagine my surprise when that CM so confidently gave me completely incorrect info!

So, just be aware that you may very possibly find yourself not being able to board that bus to a resort you're not staying at.

Yep-this.

The luggage would be the least of the issue. If they have the resort luggage tags, they would be delivered to that resort regardless.

The phone CM is more than likely wrong, unless the ME policy has been changed within the last couple days and no one knows about it.

Phone CM's aren't known for giving accurate or correct information.

When I spoke to the CM she asked me to wait while she checked with someone else...it seemed a if she e-mailed or sent some sort of text message to another department for answer as she didn't put me on hold and said "wait a minute I just got a reply" So she did give me the impression that she cheked with proper sources, but you never know.

As far as luggage...I check our bags - only carry on is a backpack with activities and snacks for son. I also have my bag that I carry in the parks all set up and ready for parks. I do this because we usually arrive very early in day and can't always count on room being ready so this way I leave plane backpack with bell services and have my park bag all ready to head to parks is room isn't ready.

Our luggage will be tagged for Pop form ME and will go there and when we check in we can have it brought to our room. I was planning on leaving the plane backpack with Contemporary bell services and when we were finished at MK just go back to Contemporary get bag and then take cab to POP.

Right now I have an 11:15 ADR at Chef Mickeys for the day we arrive and at 7:40am ADR for the next day. The trip is in Sept. so I have time to decide which one I will keep and which I will use. It's only a 4-day trip and once I get a better handle on how we want to plan the days, I can decide on which Chef Mickey.

I know it's a bit of a long shot..I know CMs can sometimes give out false information so maybe I'll call again in a few days and see if the get the same answer or a different one.

So what if your flight is late? Then you will miss the ADR and get charged for it. I would take the second day option. You cannot predict the airlines or the weather. Then if this CM is wrong, you are really in a bind.

Sounds like you reaaaaaly want this to happen but I wouldn't chance it. Too many variables. We are getting there very early in the am and I won't even schedule MVMCP or Hoop-Dee-Doo for later that night. You never know. We are even doing resort dining and making sure it's one without penalty in case I am in the air and can't cancel.

Just be aware when you get to ME and they only allow you to go to the resort you are registered for, you will be charged as a no show at Chef Mickeys.

Yep, they totally do. We checked our bags in at BWI and then could not get on a flight until the following day (we were standby). Our bags made it to PoP and spent a wonderful night there (in the room) without us. I think my smaller bag even found time to stop by the pool as it smelled suspiciously like suntan lotion.

The phone CMs will tell you they're speaking to a supervisor to "confirm" things when really they're just putting you on hold to look up the transportation tab in their computer.

ME is not going to let you get on a bus to CR when your reservation is at Pop. More than just the no-show fee you WILL be assessed when you miss your ADR, are you willing to bet your much-coveted Chef Mickey's ADR on the almost-always questionable info from a CM that may have never been to Disney World and who works at an out-of-state call center?

I learn something new every day!
