DW and I were on the Wonder (8/29 sailing) last week and we inquired about an upgrade when we got to the port. We had reserved a Category 9 (outside cabin) and thought that we would take a chance and try to upgrade. When we were checking in (about 11:30 or 12:00) I asked the CM and she said that we should check with the superivsor at the end of the counter. We ended up upgrading from the the Cat. 9 to a Cat. 5 for $298 ($149 each). It woud have been $600 for the Cat. 3 and decided it wasn't worth it for a 3-day cruise. We were in cabin 7634 which starboard aft. It had a steel balcony (vs. the glass) and was a little larger because it was back where it angles toward the very back of the ship The cabin was very nice and very clean. It did not appear worn at all.

The only complaint about it was the vibration at points when the ship was slowing down or docking.

Otherwise...awesome (as usual)! Great weather! Great food!

Sailing on 9-28 and I am hoping like crazy that I will be able to upgrade like this...I plan on getting there early in hopes they will not all be gone...when you went to the Supervisor did you just tell them that you were inquiring about an upgrade?...did they give you choices of different categories or did you tell them what you were wanting?...thanks for any further info you can give on this...

Yes, we went to the supervisor and basically asked about upgrading to an outside cabin with a verandah. As I was looking at the list she was working from, I noticed other categories and inquired what it would be to go up to a Cat. 3. You just need to ask what is available and what the cost is. We ended up with a great deal this way. We would have paid about $500-600 more if we had booked a Cat. 5 originally.

WOW!!! I am just wondering...was that $600.00 each for the cat. 3 or per person? Thanks!!

It was only my DW and I, so only two of us. The cost of the Cat 9 to Cat 3 upgrade would have been $300 per person. I am not sure if the cost goes down if you have a 3rd or 4th person, but that would be nice.
