I looked at the tours in Mexico, and decided that Xcaret looked awesome. (Website is www.xcaretcancun.com) I called and inquired about costs for my 2 and 4 year olds, and was told that they would each be charged $79 for the tour
. I looked into it myself, and found that children under 5 years do not pay an admission fee. My children will never consume $20 worth of lunch, and to pay $59 each for their transportation back and forth was a rip off (IMO). For adults, (those who are not taking children), I think it's a pretty fair deal. $99 will get you into the park ($49 if you go on your own), lunch ($20 if you go with the package they offer, ala carte is available at many restaurants in the park according to their response to my question that I emailed), and $20 for transportation (on your own, it will cost $9 each way on the fairy, and $8 each way for up to 4 people). I figure, that by walking the distance of 5 blocks or so from the ship to the ferry, paying $18 each (X4) for round trip ferry transport to Playa del Carmen, and then $16 round trip for my entire family, and the $49 each for my husband and I, I will only be spending $186 plus any food we buy as opposed to their rate of $356 (but this includes lunch and one beverage). A huge savings worth it in my opinion. I can also come and go as suits my/my childrens needs. I did confirm that both children would cost the full $79 that they charge 3 times, including once with a supervisor.
