FYI - Disney VISA

While I have a Disney Visa, I rarely use it. I recommend the Starwood American Express card, which you can use for free stays at the Dolphin or Swan in Orlando (among numerous other places). The rewards come about three times more quickly this way, in my opinion.

We are sailing November 26- Dec 03.
My card expires 12/05......should I get a new rewards card before I go? I plan to put all my dollars on my onboard account. I'd hate for it to be expired when they go to charge it off.

Luckily for you, it won't expire until the end of December.
Just remember, don't transfer more points to your onboard account than you will use, because from what I understand, they won't be reimbursed to you if you don't use all of them.

:cheer2: I gotta say that I love those points! I'm not a big spender, compared to some posters, but I had $376 off my spa bill last May, and I already have almost $300 available for this September!

If I remember correctly, the Rewards card has an expiration of Dec31st, the year after you order it - so if you order in January, it's good for almost 2 years. :flower:

I'm sorry to hear about your loss - I have to say, I would be pushing back to get the points that were applied after the card expired, reinstated.

I have heard of people using their reward points to pay on a booked cruise. How do you go about doing that? My sil and I have booked a cruise through our local travel agent can we use points to go towards our cruise or can you just use them when you book through Disney? Which they actually did, because when I look at the price we got and then pull it up on Disney site it is the same price. So, can I go to my travel agent and say I want to pay some of my cruise with reward points? We were just planning on using the points on board for spa ressies and other things but if we can use some of them to pay for the price of our cruise that would be a big help. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I love reading these boards, every morning I spend about an hour getting lots of good useful info.

WHATTTTTTTT?????!!!!???

THANK YOU for your post! I had no idea and I would have also lost a bit of $$$ when my card expired. I always transfer my balance at the end of the month. Guess I won't do that anymore!

Again, thank you. Luv the disboards!

Only a Disney travel rep or DCL can redeem the reward dollars. however you can use them towards the shipboard charges and that's what most people do.It helps to defer the after shock of those shipboard charges.
