I called my Disney Visa yesterday to let them know there would be a large amount charged to my account because I just added on 100 pts. The woman asked me if I wanted to take advantage of the 0% financing for 6 months. She said that the maximum amount is $10,000. I was surprised because I thought it was only up to $2,500 but she said it is defenitely $10,000. Just wanted to pass this along.

Thanks for the info. We are going home next month and we are all ready talking about add-ons. That would be a great way to pay.:woohoo:

when your bill comes in be careful. I brought my first dvc akl this May and we wanted to put it on our card for the points. I called to make sure I could for 6 months with 0% financing and they said yes. When the bill came in, it had the finance charges. When I called they said not on DVC sales and I made sure I paid it. I was not happy. I explain I was told I could but it do not change anything.

Unless this has just changed, it is $2,500. I just added on 100 points and it was submitted to my Disney visa in two transactions. One being $2,500, the other the rest of the balance due. I believe you recieved bad info. Keep me posted.

I just called yesterday to inform them that we would be going overseas and that I was also going to be charging a large amount (one college tuition) and was not informed of this?:confused3

There's a section on the bill that shows which charges are part of the promo, the dollar amount and the promo expiration date. The rep might have told me one thing, but what shows up in that section of my bill is all that counts! Nothing worse than surprise finance charges.

The 6 months/0% is only good on Disney vacation packages, DCL cruises, DVC purchases -- although I think a *new* cardholder gets 6 months/0% on all purchases

Saw this thread yesterday, and as I am considering an add-on, I called Disney Visa...here's what they told me: DVC purchases do qualify for the 6-month 0% financing. The $10,000 limit has been lowered to $2,500. But the rep also said if Disney is willing to submit four $2,500 charges, I'd get the 0% on all four of them...the Rep then suggested I apply for a new Disney Visa, where I could get a year's worth of 0% financing for up to my credit limit. I was incredulous, noting I already have a Disney Visa (w/a fairly high credit limit) and found it hard to believe they'd give me another one...the rep said sure they would, so long as my credit status permitted it, and that lots of people do this to take advantage of the $75,000 in spending that gets them the max of $750 in disney reward dollars...

I don't know whether any of this is true...but it's what I was told by the Disney Visa and Disney Rewards program folks last night...

I am going to add on 50 pts. I called Disney Visa also yesterday and was told the add on had to be a separate contract, not adding on to an existing contract. Thus, it has to be a brand new DVC purchase. Was also told that $2500 was the max for 0%/6mos. financing.:confused3

Yes, I agree as well. I just bought 160 pts at SSR last April and paid for it with my Disney Visa. They billed it as $2500 with no interest for 6 months and the rest was billed as normal charges with no special interest rate. Fortunately I planned to pay it off regardless so it didn't matter to me, but that is the deal as far as I know. Although I am intrigued by the thought of having it put in $2500 increments in the future when I get my next chunk of points, to get the 6 months interest free. But I'd be surprised if they actually did that as it would be defeating the purpose of them making more money.:confused3

I just checked my Visa bill for my add on last December was put on my Disney visa and I was charged 0% for the first 6 months. It was less then $2500 .

Just a bit of a warning on the 6 month 0% financing. If you are in the habit of paying your credit card balance in full to avoid finance charges you may run into problems with this offer.

My example. I made charges for $7,076.54 in the same statement period I paid for my qualifying Disney Vacation Package with my Disney Visa. I assumed I should be able to pay my balance in full less the $1,907.64 charge for our Disney Vacation and receive up to 6 months of 0% APR for that amount of my balance. In my opinion that is the only way to honor the offer as represented in the advertising materials.

But according to a Chase representative when I asked about this:

:sad1: Payments are applied to balances with lower APRs before balances with higher APRs. unpaid finance charges and fees associated with each balance type are generally paid first. We then allocate any remaining payment amount to the principal balances beginning with lower-APR balances and ending with higher-APR balances. Payments are generally applied last to standard cash advance balances.:sad2:

The net is paying all of my other balances results in me having $1,907.64 on my Disney Visa Card with the highest rate of interest possible being charged to me by Chase. (Because Chase has decided to pay down my 0% vacation balance first :headache: )

I'm definitely not feeling the magic.

We carry 2 Disney Visas and typically pay balances in full each month. Looks like I could use one of them for a DVC add-on and then use my other one for my normal monthly charges thus avoiding the complicated interest problems. I dont know if they will divide the DVC amount into 4 charges but our guide did offer to divide it into 2 charges on 2 different billing cycles (one charge on each cycle).

We have our own business, we have maxed out the Disney rewards on 3 cards this year. I learned on the dis that I could have more than one card. Each credit worthy family member can have 2 cards, I pay mine on the computer, they all show up together, very easy to pay online, same user name and password. I pay ours off every month, I would not encourage anyone to get into Credit card debt, just to maximize their ability to have more Disney Reward points.

I also was told that it is treated as special financing that requires no payment for 6 months. My statement specifically states $2,500.00 @ 0% until Dec. 24 2007. I hope that is the way it works. My first bill with this charge is due this month, so we will see.....

I did a 30 point add on in February. The first $2500 was charged and then the difference was charged. This way I got the 6 months 0% interest on the $2500 and just paid the difference off first. Be sure to look at your statements and read the bottom--you'll see a date for when your promo rate needs to be paid off to avoid any finance charges.

Yes, DH and I have a joint account we use for everything. I have a single account so that I can charge the promo stuff and stretch payments for things like add ons and pay no interest. I don't care if I have three or four 30 point contracts rather than 1 100 point contract especially if I don't pay any interest.
