We just returned from a great trip to the World- Everything soo christmassy and CM's full of the holiday spirit!

One thing that did spoil our good time was that on our 2nd night we visited the Osborne Lights (fabbb) and bought christmas tree light necklaces thinking we could wear them each evening of our trip. We have purchased similar ones before and they lasted through 2 trips. The ones we bought this time lasted the first night and about 1 hour the next night. We asked about exchanging them for new ones, told they were sold out and the CM admitted that they had complaints about the short battery life. We did find them again on Wen night again at the Studios but did not have them with us- why wear them when they don't light up?
We were disapointed that Disney sells such an inferior product at $10 a pop you would expect them to last longer.

So if you go to the parks during the holiday season don't get grinched into buying these necklaces or if you do don't have your usual high expectations for a disney product.

Otherwise we had a great trip, tried some new resturants and were very impressed with them.

I can never justify the cost of the all the light up stuff at Disney. Targets dollar spot had christmas light up necklaces, bracelets and wands so I bought those for our trips.

Mine from last year I bought the first day of my two week stay and still is going, but I have to be careful with flashing lights due having had seizures in the past, so I don't leave mine on as long as most probably. But I saw the ones at Halloween and heard people make comments about not to buy them because they had crappy battery life. But my snowman is still going, maybe it's just a bad batch.

FYI Just got back from 11 days Dec 2015 . I ran into the same problem 3 hours on and the batteries are dead. I manufacture electronics . If we made this it would be rechargeable or run 3 hours a nite for 7 days before battery replacement. Any way I successfully swapped necklaces with cast members s any time my necklace went dead. One time a cast member came up to my wife and I and swapped with out asking during the parade. Every time I swapped I just indicated to the cast member there should be a sign if they only last 3 hours for $15.00 I am here for 11 days. Or did they know where I could buy batteries from Disney.

Good luck next year

I bought mine the first night of our trip and wore them almost every night. Even wore them a bit back home. These were the larger ones $14.50 I think. Fun!

I bought ours at five below for $5 before we left for DS. They look exactly like Disney's. The only difference is that they have one less bulb on them. They lasted the whole trip. My only complaint with them is that though they still work every other bulb doesn't light up now.

On our trip 12/9-12/12 we saw MANY people upset with the light bulb necklaces. We ran in to at least 5 or 6 families in just one night on 12/10 who were complaining about how they had just purchased the necklaces that night, and they knew for certain they hadn't been turn on before and played with, and they were burnt out by 11pm. I would definitely recommend buying them elsewhere! I wanted a necklace but my mind was quickly changed on purchasing a Disney one.

We just got one for ds during our Dec. trip. It basically stopped working correctly about 30 minutes after he started using it. Some but not all lights worked and kept going on and off.

We also noticed that there were 2 different styles. The one we originally got from a mk cart was much shorter in length and did not have a tag on it.

We swapped it out for a longer length one and it has been great and ds was happy to wear it there and to work when he got home.

Honestly just exchange them if they are bad. We saw the cm just throw them into the middle of her cart so obviously many people were having problems with them. I dont know if it was the style we had or the bigger longer length ones.

You won't believe how many of these end up at Cast Connection due to dead batteries. The reason the batteries die is because they run them to draw people to the carts. Some of the necklaces may have run for days at the cart before someone bought them even if they weren't on when you bought them. I really think each cart should have 1 sample and then the rest have the plastic tag on them that keep the batteries from being run down.

I bought one of the light up scarves from DHS about 2 years ago. I brought it with me when I went the first week in Dec. On a lark, I decided to see if it would even work, as I'd kind of forgotten where the on/off switch was. To my immense surprise, it still worked!!! Now I did have it on that whole night, and by the end it was dead, but that was 3 years in a row of wearing it for at least 4 hrs each... I was amazed.

I bought them for myself and my two boys when we were there last month. I ended up needing to exchange them three times apiece in a single night. It was ridiculous. At first I thought it must have been that they were running on the cart before I bought them, but I made sure when I exchanged them to get ones with their little battery-protector tabs still intact, and it didn't make any difference at all. The batteries had <1 hour's worth of charge in them when totally brand new. Very disappointing!

Mine was new, I pulled the tab out when I bought it. Mine was dying by the 3rd evening, and I did turn it off inside attractions, and during Illuminations. I was able to exchange it for another one, that lasted me the last through MVMCP. This was back in mid November.

My SIL and granddaughter bought me one and within an hour it was dead. The next day I exchanged it for another one and wore it for an hour that night and it died too. I exchanged it again and that one stayed on. All three of them had the plastic strip in the battery compartment so I guessed they were new.

That happened to us last year and they allowed us to exchange it for another product of similar pricing.

That's sad they aren't lasting even with the pull tab in place. We bought a good amount of the batteries on amazon so just replace the batteries in our old ones that still work.

If anyone is planning a split stay next year, we bought one at Legoland for $5 with the tag still in. We've used it several times this season including to holiday parties at home-- still working. There are fewer functions than the ones at at WDW, and I don't think the glow is as nice, but the price was right. Before going next year, know that you can also order them from Amazon ($6-ish); they're even a prime item.

I had no idea there was a problem. I wore mine 4-5 nights not in flashing mode though. I turned it off for dark rides and shows but otherwise left it on and it hasn't stopped working yet wearing it at home a couple of times. My daughter who was mortified that I was wearing it would have been thrilled if it stopped working

Yes, this was our experience as well. The CM's did not even blink when we first turned them back for new ones, and while we were sitting waiting for MSEP a CM was changing them out with any guests whose necklaces looked like they were dying out. I gave up and just tuned them back in for a merchandise credit.
