FYI Autograph Pages Paper

I just got back from WalMart where I was printing a few "test" pages for DD's autograph book. I have been debating to print on my printer or photo paper. (I would have to buy a new printer too, because mine stinks!) I am VERY pleased with the photo paper. The employee in the photo department refered to the finish as "luster" not matte. The picture looked beautiful (Thanks Natalie for your disigns!). She told me they are suppose to be perfect to be written on and are suppose to be waterproof, but she hadn't tested that yet. When I got home I tested a Sharpie on it and rubbed my finger across it and no smearing at all! You can order these online through WalMart. It is the 1 hour processing. You can pick it up at the store and I assume there is no shipping charges that way. The more pictures you order the cheaper the price.

Thank you for this information!! I was going to create a PDF file and then have it printed and bound at Staples or Office max, but that is going to be expensive! I didn't think about having the pictures printed off. Thanks for the idea!!!

I am so happy you posted this I was going back and forth on whether or not to make DS an autograph book. We are going on the cruise on Sunday. I actually just got some 4x6 pics printed up as part of our Fish Extender gifts. It didn't occur to me to have the pics serve as autograph cards. I was just at walmart site and looking into getting the 5x7 pics. For 40 pics it would be in the area of $23 for site to store and over $60 for the hour The 4x6 pics came out to around $10 for the hour printing so that is what I went with. Here's my question....should I put them on 5x7 cardstock so that they are bigger and sturdier?? I ordered a 5x7 pic for the album cover. I have also read about using chipboard for the cover. Are you planning on doing any of this or are you just gonna use a ring to keep the pics together?? Any ideas or suggestions (other than I should've planned better) would be great!!!

What I think I am going to do is to put the autograph pictures onto a piece of cardstock slightly larger than a 4x6. I am going to do that because I want to have the book spiral bound. You can do this at an office supply store. This way it will not take away anything from the picture for the binding. Then I will make the cover and backcover. I was going to look into the chipboard for the durablity factor.

Last year I colour printed the pages on paper and then we mounted them to cardstock in order to get them spiral bound. Worked out great, but the binding was expensive ($12+ each) beacuse of the size of the book (80 pages).

This year, we printed out 4x6 photos (Wal-mart, glossy finish, $0.19 each online) and we are going to punch a small hole in each and use a metal ring to attach.

Based on last year my DW will find this easier for scrapbooking.

Both ways work...just make sure to carry them in a Ziploc bag at the park, with lots of sharpies!

I printed my autograph pages at home onto scrapbooking white cardstock. I cut the pages to 5 1/2 x6 1/4, so there is a white boarder. I bought a CD ring binder for 97 cents at Wal-Mart and puched holes to add the pages to the binder. When I printed I have the picture more to the right to allow for more space for the holes to add to the binder. I can't post attachments to show you what I did, sorry. We use a washable marker and I didn't think that would hold up on photo paper. I will use the blank sideof the pages in the book to add a photo of DS with the character. So I m made a title page so the back of that will correlate with the first autograph in the book.

how did you do this? I have seen natalie's designs and they are great! Did you copy and then save them to a disk or just "upload" them to walmart's photo site online? This seems much easier than printing them all yourself! Please let me know

I just saved the disigns to my computer then uploaded them to the walmart site. DH picked them up today and they look pretty good. I had the cover printed in a 5x7 and the rest are 4x6. I think that I am going to put the 4x6 pics on 5x7 cardstock and leave room at the top for binding. I will probably try to get this done at staples. I will post pics when it is completed.

Chipboard is usually a "brown" heavy weight cardstock/paper (think of a cereal box). There are diff weights, its great for making covers for memory books etc
