WASHINGTON -- An Iowa egg producer is recalling 228 million eggs after being linked to an outbreak of salmonella poisoning.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said eggs from Wright County Egg in Galt, Iowa, were linked to several illnesses in Colorado, California and Minnesota. The CDC said about 200 cases of the strain of salmonella linked to the eggs were reported weekly during June and July, four times the normal number of such occurrences.
The eggs were distributed around the country and packaged under the names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemp.
The Food and Drug Administration is investigating the egg company.

YIKES!!! :scared1:

I just checked the eggs in our fridge, they appear to be from a MN farm so that is good news.

I'm glad I have my girls laying eggs for me :goodvibes

Ours are Meijer brand so they just say they were distributed in Michigan.

Our eggs are from Ralph's but say they were distributed by a company in Ohio. How are you supposed to know if you have eggs from the contaminated place? :confused3

ETA: Google is my friend. I found this:

The egg recall was voluntarily initiated by Wright County Eggs, based in Galt, Iowa. The company says the suspect eggs come in packages stamped with one of these three plant numbers: P1026, P1413 and P1946.

My eggs say P1211 so I guess we're okay.

Thanks for that! Ours are P1535.

You're welcome!

I saw this on our local news last night and was waiting for them to say some numbers or something and they didn't. I figured I'd google when I got up this morning but had completely forgotten :rolleyes1 so this thread helped remind me. :thumbsup2

Kind of off topic, sorry OP! But does anyone else's grocery store call them when the purchased a recalled item?

...and thanks! I just purchased eggs yesterday!!

DD just bought some eggs yesterday from Aldi. Where do you find the plant# on the package? The stamp on the carton says "sell by sep 06". Under that, it says "220 18-0427 6".
