I'll keep checking daily but it looks like my chances of booking FW for 12/26 to 1/1 is slim. My dear hubby and I have our annual "us" vacation and we want to camp in that area, what is the next best campground? We are tent campers and I need hookups :) what are you recommendations??

Check out Tropical Palms Resort -- it's close to the Disney action but is right behind Old Town. We've stayed there before and it's not the Fort but it's nice. Our son loved the kids room in the office where he could go and make crafts and watch videos etc all day long. They also do theme weeks and cool stuff for the holidays.

Tropical Palms is nice. We stay there when the Fort is full, and sometimes even if it's not. My husband really likes the car shows on Sat night at Old Town and you can walk there right from your camp site.

check back every morning, and every evening and lots of times in between....there are always cancellations

have you ever stayed there in a tent? I read some reviews about the tent sites that were pretty bad so I'm nervous, do they have any shade? Florida has plenty of campgrounds but in the immortal words of Joe Dirt.. "I'm newww.. I dont know what to doooo..." LOL sorry, caffiene has kicked in

Have you checked your PM's today ??

i have through the 28th for that week but havent been able to book through the second so we are switching over t orlando rv. Im still hoping something will open up, i keep trying. When i checked tropical springs it was booked also but i was looking for full hook up not a tent site. It looked nice.

I have to say by calling everyday for a while we got very lucky to finally add a night to our Thanksgiving vacation. We booked this Thanksgiving last October and just realized like an idiot that we were coming Thanksgiving day instead of the day before. Keep calling and hopefully something should come up

There was one site available yesterday at 5pm, the last time I looked. It's gone this morning, so I hope you got it! I wasn't around my computer last night, so I don't know when it disappeared.

I missed it!! :sad2: Story of my life, I'm always a day late and a dollar short.. that's ok, I'll keep trying eventually DIS res will give me something to keep me from calling them 12 times a day.. I have the gift of gab (says Daddy anyway)

Not trying to discourage you but I just gave up on this plan. We are getting a puppy today instead.

I checked out Tropical palms - it looks nice - the cabins are about the same price as a tent site at the Fort - you may want to check that out.

I have my eye on that place as well. I have a sneaking suspicion we will end up there, but we will see..

:cool2:

we are tossing around the idea of heading down a little further south, who knows, all I know is I'm going somewhere!!

we always stay on a premium this is the first time we are on a Full Hook up

:rotfl2:

Anyone who camps in a premuim site every couple of months has no interest in saving a few bucks by changing to a FHU. Nice try, though. (Actually, pretty lame, but I'm trying to be nice)

Keep trying. You'll get better eventually. popcorn::
