October Weather?
Currently have reservations for October 14 for 10 to 12 days was wondering about weather at that particular time of year. We have been to Disney in April, May(very nice) and August(very hot..but kids were out from school). In any case, wondered if any of you have been in October. It will be our first visit to campground with our own travel trailer, and we wanted to enjoy bike riding and the amenities of the campground..tough to do that in August heat.
I do wonder about the parks closing earlier than the summer months..and also what about daylight at that time of year in Fla. I think we are getting close to Daylights savings time(which I hate to turn clocks back and loose the daylight earlier! ) What are the temps like..

Ah, October - one of our favorite times at the fort. Daytime can be warm - in the 80's. Nightime generally cools down to the 60's-70's. Of course, this can vary - I have been down in November when it felt like August. This is the end of hurricane season (remember Wilma?) so you can expect rain, but last year we were down the week before Wilma and it was the best weather I can remember in Florida - warm daytimes, cool nights and low humidity. By the way, we will be down 18-28 October. It does get dark earlier, but keep in mind that the sun is entering the Southern hemisphere so it is more direct than we have up north in the fall, and it does stay light a little later than we are used to. By the way, thanks to the federal government, the clocks don't change until the last weekend in October - so that will give me an extra hour to get home! Bring your bikes - we always do and I spend a lot of time riding around on mine. We usually use the ac in the daytime, but click it off at night. The hardest part is what to wear. When I walk the dog early in the morning, it can be pretty chilly. I usually dress appropriately for the warm day ahead - I'd rather be a little chilly in the morning. Bring a variety of clothes, though - everything from sweaters and long pants to shorts and t shirts. Last October my usual uniform - polo shirt, shorts, sandals. I still have the tan lines on my feet!

I couldn't agree more. It is our favorite time to go. Only once did we leave early because of a tropical storm. They were expecting big amounts of rain.Having a pop up and coming home to Wisconsin in early November with a wet camper was not what we wanted. I wouldn't hesitate to go anytime in October. Weather is pretty much perfect.

Our last trip was in October. It was beautiful! Nice and warm during the day but not too warm! Nights cooled off. Just like summer up North! I think we only got one rain storm the week we were there. I don't remember the crowds being too bad either! We went over Columbus week too!

We would be going again at that time except I don't dare pull DS and DD out of school now that they are in high school. This time we will be going during the hottest part of the summer!

Enjoy your trip!

:tink:

My youngest son will be starting high school also..and his older sister is already in college. This is supposed to be a trip for mom and dad..they are planning to fly down for part of it with my mom. This way they won't miss more than a few days each. Nothing in stone yet..but trying to get some dates that work for everyone. Tnntative dates of the 14th of Oct.for hopefully 10 days or so. Haven't been in October, glad to hear it seems like a pleasant time of year. The rate of 46.00 with the tax is great too!

October is great I agree with all of the above. Have you ever been to the Not so very Scary Holloween Party? Its great fun for the adults and kids. Also they have had in the past at FW a Haunted Hay ride. It great fun!! Usally I go down that time of year. :cheer2:

I throughly enjoy the harvest time of year..and celebrate that. I just don't get into the entire..ghoulish/ghost..cemetary type aspect of Holloween. So if they celebrate it in that way..no I don't think I'd care for the party. Been on huanted hayrides..so that sounds good..and hay bales, mums, scarecrows and pumpkins and gourds decorate my home..but not the morbid aspects of the holiday. I've have found that this holiday has been taken to an entirely different level...and have participated in it less and less over the years. That's just me. How does Disney handle this?...If it's in a light hearted fun way..I can deal..if it's doom and dead corpse type of stuff..don't think I'd want to pay for that sort of thing. Can't imagine Disney going that route though.

It's not morbid at all, hence the "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party." I don't care for the death and doom stuff either, but loved the Halloween party in '04. There are some "ghosts and ghouls," but they are cute ghosts and ghouls - tigger dressed up as a skeleton comes to mind. Of course all the Disney villians are out that night :teeth:

30 Days 5 Hours and 47 Minutes til we're back at the Fort and Star Wars Weekend!! :woohoo:

It is the Not so very Scary Holloween Party. Its not morbid. I like seeing all the creativity of the costums You don't have to dress up. but there are grown up that get dressed up, Some even have a the entire family dress up in Disney theme customs.

Teach... are you skipping school today ?? sorry I had to ask

Hey bigdisneydaddy, even teachers get a lunch!!! If it weren't for those 30 minutes a day with no melodramatic middle schoolers, I'd probably strangle one or two or twenty. ;)

28 Days, 23 Hours, and 2 minutes til we're back at the Fort and Star Wars Weekend!!! And out of school for the summer. :woohoo:

We will be there 9/30 -10/7. How's the weather then?(usually). I'm really hoping for the "fall" reports that you all on this thread are giving, and not the reports I've heard that it's not very different from August. Ugh!
What about bugs that time of year. Really want to go to the sing-a-long.

We were there last Oct and it was HOT but we also were on a site with NO shade. Never again. I should have realized and asked for another site but live and learn. We were also there in Oct 2003 and had some rain but nothing that wasn't manageable even in a tent.
