Going to Hoop De Doo on Sun. Dec. 9th at 7:15. I was wondering. We are going to be at AK that day til 4ish and leave after the afternoon parade. We will then go back to AKL to change and rest. To get to FW, I was thinking of driving to MK and taking the boat over to FW. OR Is it better just to drive straight to FW. I heard if you drive to FW, it requires a walk from the lot.

Any thoughts. Thanks.

They have Internal buses that run every few minutes so you will not have to walk. It might be more fun for you to ride the boat from MK and see the Lake and enjoy that view.

I think it might be quicker for you to take the bus to MK from your hotel. The bus will let you off not far from the boat dock, and you can catch a boat to FW there.

Driving to MK can be slow because you have to park, probably catch a tram to get you out of the parking lot, then you STILL have to take the monorail or ferry over to the front gate.

I logged on to ask the very same question! We are going to the 7:15 show on the same day - December 9. How funny is that!!!

Hopefully someone can answer our questions. I seem to remember reading that Fort Wilderness has an internal bus system and was hoping someone could confirm that we can get on one of those buses at Guest Parking and have it take us to Pioneer Hall instead of having to walk. Can anyone explain how this is done???

Well....that's what I was going to say lol. I love taking the FW/WL/MK boat. It's my favorite transportation.

We'll see you there too!!!

We will be taking the bus from our resort to MK then taking the boat over...I love that boat ride! We stayed in the cabins a few years ago and i loved that ride. You could drive to fort wilderness then catch the bus but that just isn't as relaxing.

I would ride the boat, afterall how often do you get to do that! We stay at WL and our kidos love the boat ride. Just remember the water parade when you leave. I'm not sure how long you plan on staying at Ft. Wilderness (if you are going to do anything else while you are over there. Try to get there early and check in, maybe someone in your party will be allowed to ring the "Dinner Bell".

Internal buses run to Pioneer Hall from the bus stop near guest parking. No problem. I forget the name of the bus but ask the driver (I always do). The walk is over a mile so the bus is the better option. There's also a bus going back. Have fun. PS the boat is a lot of fun -- it's getting to MK that's a hassle, unless you take the resort bus there. Have fun.

OK, if you have a car you can drive to FW and park in the guest lot. From there you will board any of the 3 Settlement buses(orange, yellow or purple), orange has the fewest stops, the Settlement stop is just a few steps from the HDDR. To get back to your car, go to the same stop and board any Outpost bus, again orange(inside camping loops) has the fewest stops, but yellow(outside camping loops) and purple(cabin loops) will give you a nice tour of the campground. If you go from MK make sure you board the boat for FW, according to another poster on the transportation board, FW and WL no longer share boats from the MK, so make sure you check with the captain or mate before you get on the baot. Once the boat arrives at FW walk down the dock then to your right, you will see Trails End and Pioneer Hall, home of the HDDR.
