Im driving down with my wife and our dog in a mid-size RV with slide-outs. I will also be renting a car to drive outside the Disney area. I'm worried that I will pick the wrong type of campsite, or request the wrong loop or area. I want the basic full hook-ups, (water/elec./sewer), internet. What are some suggestions??? I would need a pet friendly loop and I am looking to stay AWAY from any major road or away from the pool area. We don't mind walking or biking to places. I was thinking about the 300 Loop Preferred- close to the dog park. Is this a bad choice?

Howdy! If you want to be away from the pool and major roads (bus traffic) you might be better to book for the 1600, 1700, 1800 or 1900 loop. Those loops are further in from the traffic. We have stayed there several times and found it to be pretty quiet.

I will echo Nancy's recommendation Our last stay we were in 1800 and it was great. Nice sized site Dog walk area at back of the site Dog park a bit of a walk but not too far 1600 loop also has access to dog walking area but be warned both are along a Canal.

Welcome Fred. We also like 1600 and 1800 by the dog walk canal area.

I'm wondering the same thing about being close to the dog park. Which loops do people like best for their dog?

There are several nice dog walks. The canal that runs behind 1600 and 1800. The canal behind 300. The canal behind 700 800 900 1000. And of course the dog park. Our dog isn't big on the dog park but she loves walking the other walks.

All the loops that are Premium, Preferred or Full have all the hookups. Only the tent sites (I believe) don't have the sewer

Looking at a map such as the one at http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fort-wilderness-map-1.jpg can provide some insight into the bus routes. Most (but not all) of the loops will have a "Bus" stop near them. I have had a site (1401) where the bus stop was almost right behind our site and I didn't find the noise to be an issue at all. Of course your mileage may vary.

I know there is a dog park over by the 300 loop. I am not sure of any other dog parks at the fort though. Many places to walk them though, just be sure to clean up after them.

We stayed in the 300 loop in the past too. We found it to be a good location to most things without too many issues. Just be sure to not your RV size on your reservation including awnings or slides. Also note the pet on the reservation as well. While the Fort does have "designated" pet loops (300 is one of them), the reality is, is that ANY loop "could" be a pet loop. It's up to their (WDW and the Fort's) discretion.
