We are going for our first holiday visit to WDW and were curious about the decorations at FW. We have seen posts showing decorations that the campers do for Christmas. Is it better to go to FW in the daytime to see or at night? Are there lots of lights?

Thanks!

Definitely at night, yes A LOT of lights.

One other question...we are there the week between Christmas and New Years. Are most decorations still up, or does it come down pretty quickly? We don't want to miss the fun!

Thanks!

They stay up until after the first. I have even seen some keep them until Feb when they decorated for Valentine Day.

I'm going to jump on here to ask when do people start putting their decorations up at their sites? After thanksgiving?

We will be there the week before Thanksgiving... will people decorate for Christmas that early?

We were there Nov 1-20 last year and the Christmas decorations at the Fort started going up VERY soon after Halloween. More day-by-day the closer you get to Thanksgiving when the "big guns" really come out. There were quite a lot of decorations already up when we left 11/20. :santa:

It is like there is a short transition period between Halloween & Christmas decorations. There will also be some Thanksgiving decorations up also.

Yeah, the first couple of weeks of November are very interesting for decorations. One day it's Halloween, a few days later there are some Christmas decorations going up, often alongside some random turkeys and pilgrims. ;)

Parks are similar - MK especially. Last year the last MNSSHP was Nov 1, and over the next 3-4 days it transitioned from "fall/Halloween" to Christmas. One day we went in and most of the Christmas decorations were up, but we spotted a few "forgotten" fall baskets in some of the upper windows of Main St. They were gone the next day.

We'll be staying at Old Key West first week of December. I saw on Samantha Brown's show some of the Christmas decorations at the camp sites & would love to bring my grandson over to see them. We have reservations for dinner at Trails End. What would be the best way to see the camp sites without a car & with a possibly tired 2 year old. Does the carriage ride go near the camp sites? I understand that the Sleigh ride only goes through the woods - not helpful.
Thanks for any advice.

For about $60 you could rent a golf cart. That is by far the best way to go looping.

The carriage rides only go through a couple of loops. You will see far more with a golf cart. Can you rent a GC if you're not a FW resident? I don't know, but someone will.

Golf cart sounds like fun, but not by myself while trying to hold onto a 2 yr old. Maybe when he's older & more cooperative.
