I am going camping at FW this weekend, and it is forcasted to rain. This is only my second time camping as an adult, and my first time in the rain. I'm not sure what to do to prepare.

Our tent has a rain flap thing to go over it, and we purchased a pop-up canopy to go in front of our tent if we want to sit outside. We also heard we should put a plastic tarp under our tent too.

Is there any tips for camping in the rain that you guys can share with a newbie? :confused3

Thanks!

Be sure when you put your tarp down under your tent that it does NOT stick out at all. It really shoud be about 2" from the edge of your tent. If you can see the ground tarp after you set up your tent, water will run down off your tent then flow back under the tent and just sit there between your ground tarp and the floor of your tent. A very bad thing as it WILL eventually end up inside your tent. Be sure anything you put up (Rain fly or canopy) will drain and not let water pool up. Umbrellas are very handy for around the campground. I even use a very large beach umbrella for when I need to grill in the rain. Just be careful if it is also very windy.
