FW Cabins

Hi everyone! Happy to be a part of this informative and friendly site. We are going in June and renting a cabin, but I'm still concerned about the size of the beds as 2 of our 3 children are over 6'3" (boy and girl BB players) and a dad 6'7". Will those kids be comfy? Has anyone experienced the same concerns?

Honestly? They may not be that comfortable.
The bedding the the bedroom are bunk beds and a double bed.
In the living room is a double murphy bed.
They may have their piggies hanging over the end of the bed.
But heck, they would probably have their piggies hanging out in any of the other accommodations too.

DisneyMom5 --- I wanted to ask as you have kids close to ours in age, (for August trip they will be 8, 6, & 5) what did your kids think of the pools at FW? I am so torn about where to stay -- FW seems like a great place for a family, the pool situation is such a big minus for us. My other problem --- DH is having issues about spending his vacation in a trailer. We stayed Poly at our last trip and is was an amazing resort. We are planning on staying a full 7 nights this trip and I liked the idea of being able to put the kids to bed and have some quiet time together. This will be the longest trip we have taken as a family and I just can't imagine eating out that much so the kitchen is a huge plus. We will have a rental car and so I am wondering do we need a golf cart? I think it would be fun for the kids but, we are an active family who proudly walk two miles to school when Wisconsin weather cooperates.

Are there any FW cheerleaders who can help us out??? Thanks!

Hello fellow Wisconsinite!

Your family will love FW. We have been staying here since our DS's were little ones. Now 14 and 19, we are coming again for Springbreak. Our kids are adamant that they will not stay in a hotel. We have had a really hard time getting in this vacation, but have finally succeeded. My DS's are now thrilled. There is so much to do in the campground you will want to take time to enjoy it, not just the parks. That is why the boys love it. Always something to do, not stuck in a hotel room. The pool doesn't have anything special, but our boys enjoy it just the same. It is as much fun as you make it to be. Have a great trip!

Anyone go to FW without a car? I've been to Disney twice at value resorts with no car and have no problem taking disney transportation. How is it having no car at FW? Thanks for any info.

We don't tow a vehicle so we usually don't have a car. We enjoy using Disney transportation for going to the parks. We only mind riding to the waterparks--I hate riding a bus when I'm wet and exhausted!!

kc&dmom - My kids never get to go swimming at home, and they wouldn't know a themed pool if it bit them in the behind! LOL
A pool is a pool, they LOVED the pool by the cabins. They were bummed they only got to go once.
We stayed 5 nights, and DH was concerned that a "trailer" would be small, but it doesn't feel that way and he was pleasantly surprised. It is much bigger than the basic hotel room. Check out the sq. footage of the hotels sometime. All Stars is 200 something Sq. ft., and the cabins are 500 something sq. ft., I think. The ONLY thing that would have been nice is 2 bathrooms, especially when the stomach flu hit, but we didn't have that at any other hotels on our trip, so we just dealt with it. Not worth double the price to get a dvc villa, not yet anyway! LOL
Kitchen is awesome, and I was SO spoiled by leaving my dirty dishes in the sink in the morning and coming home to clean dishes in the dishwasher, courtesy of housekeeping. We made breakfast in the morning, snacks at night, and two dinners. If we had stayed longer we probably would have eaten more in the cabin.
We did not rent a golf cart and never needed one. If you were going to stay at the resort all day and do different things you might want one, but really, the buses go everywhere you need to go. I don't think it is worth the extra expense.

Shelleyz - We drove our own van to WDW, but did not dirve it again until we left. Parked at our cabin and used the buses.

This will be our third year staying at FW Cabins. We love them. Only time we ever drive to anything is Downtown Disney and to the Water Parks. Don't like being wet and sandy on a bus. We always cooked breakfast, sometimes a late lunch, and a number of early dinners in the kitchen. We usually stay at least 12 days, so I bring a fair amount of food, purchase the rest there. I always forget the cookie sheet, so bring one. Everything else is fantastic.
We get up early hit the parks, head back around 1 or 2 swim, eat an early dinner and go back after it's cooled off. Usually take a couple of days off here and there just to relax in FW. Enjoy your stay.

No car is no big deal. You can't park at the marina or restaurants or recreation areas anyway. Our trip-before-last we stayed at Allstars in the building with Woody's boots. This time we were at FW at the farthest part of our loop from the bus stop and it was still a MUCH shorter walk than we had at Allstars.

i know its been a week or so for this post but one thing that I would suggest bringing is aluminum foil charcoal and some matches for grilling burgers or steaks on the grill while drinking an Ice cold beverage. Cant do that in a hotel room lol Gotta luv the cabins, wouldnt dream of staying anyplace else
