FW Cabins or BRV?

We booked a Fort wilderness cabin for December with cash- but decided we had the points so were were going to cancel and book with points BUT when I called they said there was no availability I thought we could just rent out our points and cover the cost but hubs wants to stay at our home resort instead to not deal with the hassle. Our home resort would actually cost more points than the cabins would have. The kids love the cabins and this was suppose to be a surprise trip for them.
1. Could the cabins become available with points? we have never done the Disney collection stuff before
2. Is it a big pain to rent out your points?
3. What would you do?

It really just depends on what Disney resorts wants to turn over for point bookings. Maybe there will be some turned over but it may not be too likely.

Fort Wilderness is pretty popular with regular guests during the holidays. My guess is that nothing will come available for points.

I agree, campers really know how to decorate their sites. It’s a very festive place, we rent bikes to drive around to see all the decorations!

So we won’t be able to use points- should we rent points to cover the cost or just stay at BRV for Christmas? Is renting points a huge hassle?

I would rent your points through a third party. Not sure if I can mention the name here. Basically, you offer your points to the broker when a match is found you make the reservation for the renter. They make it very easy, but make money on the difference between what they pay you per point and what the renter pays per point.

I do not think renting points through a broker is a huge hassle.

If you end up staying at FW not sure if you are aware but the Camping board here on the Dis is super helpful with all things FW!
