FW cabins compared to POFQ

I am trying to convince our FW cabin family to try a new resort. We have stayed at the cabins 5 times. We have to rent 2 cabins for all of us each time. I find that it might be time to change. WE will have a 4 year old granddaughter with us next time. Am thinking that getting 4 rooms at POFQ would be nice and quite a bit cheaper than the cabins and a golf cart. Then each couple could have their own room. Cooking at the cabin is not an issue. What differences could we expect between the two? Would it almost feel like a delux to us after the cabins? Is there more to do for adults too?

Well, first of all I think you would have more privacy with everyone having their own room. One of the big differences I think you will notice is the pool. The POR have two great pools - Old Man Island at POR and the Sea Serpant one at POFQ - resorts are sister resorts so pool hopping is allowed. I think your whole family will enjoy the entertainment at the River Roost Lounge. There is also a boat that goes over to downtown disney. Full service restaurant and food court give you lots of options for dining. I think you would enjoy the change.

Do you spend a lot of time in your room?
If so, I think the cabins would be more comfortable with the additional seating areas.
If not, the privacy of the separate rooms would appeal to me.
The first Disney resort we stayed at 10 years ago was POR. We eventually became DVC members, and have not retuned due to that fact, but I remember loving the resort sooooo much.
Well, we just retuned from a WDW trip today, and made it a point to add an extra day at the end so we could experience POR again.
I'm happy to say that it has not lost it's charm at all. I still love the grounds and atmosphere, and even though I am DVC spoiled, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! :)

It will also be quicker to get around. The cabins are wonderful but a bit isolated. PO has lots of action and between the two resorts, you never run out of things to do. The food court has lots of options and PO-R has a nice sit-dpwn restaurant too. There is a fun ferry to Downtown Disney. Again, more action and lots to do!

Thanks everyone, I think the cabins are quite isolated but I really have nothing to compare it to. Nice to hear opinions, I have no real idea about the differences. I know we felt kind of bored in the evening because the park closed so early and if we went anywhere it seemed like an awfully long trip back to the cabins.

More info: POFQ/Riverside has extra activities because you have access to BOTH (they are sister resorts). You can swim at either of their main pools, for example. The POFQ pool has a dragon slide that looks very cool. Riverside has a nice poolside bar and a great little catch-and-release fishing hole. You can also rent boats. There is a big food court at each resort, and in addition to the sit-down place ar Riverside there is a nice lounge with a piano player who is hugely popular. You can even take a horse-drawn carriage ride. Riverside has a really nice store with great WDW souvenirs.

While I love Ft. WIlderness and have enjoyed the cabins, I think PO might be a nice change for your group. There certainly is a lot of activity right at the two resorts. The grounds are beautiful. Downtown Disney is quite close. GO for it!
