This may sound silly. but I am considering staying in a cabin at FW and have some questions:

Are the bugs at FW any worse than the other Disney resorts?

Also, what is the time frame for the boat to leave for MK? An hour before opening? What about EMH days?

How are the cabins for quietness, compared to the other Disney resorts?

thanks!!!!!!

The bugs at FW may be a little more intense than other resorts, and depending on the time of year, may be more of a problem than other times. Parts of FW are pretty swampy, and although FW does spray daily, mosquitoes can still be a problem. Also, certain times of the year there are deer fly problems. Bring a good insect repellant, especially if you plan on attending the movie at night.

I feel that FW is quieter than many other resorts mainly because of the nature of the place. It is wooded and somewhat remote.

You should be able to pick up the launch to MK early enough for EMH days. I can't recall exactly when the boats start, but I do know we never had a problem making it to MK or making monorail connections to Epcot in plenty of time for the openings. Take the green flag launch to MK or WL, and the blue flag launch to WL and Contemporary, where you can make a monorail connection to get you to Epcot.

Fort Wilderness has a "feel" that none of the other resorts does. It is quieter but still offers many activities. It feels less "touristy" to us (if that makes any sense)
The good part is that you are just a short ride to most anywhere in the World. Depending on your mood you can kick back and relax on the deck of your cabin or go to downtown Disney and shop.
The transportation system can be intimidating for those that are new to it. The key is to ask questions, most of the drivers and other CM are happy to answer.
The bug situation is less than what you would expect. The only problem that I have is occasional bug bites on the legs during the evening. I usually wear long pants after dinner and have no problems. Of course we live in a state where the Mosquito is considered our "state bird" during the 2 weeks of summer we have in mid July. ;)

I have to say that I was not bothered by bugs at all during our stay last August. I had heard all the stories of bugs and i was prepared but I did not need to spray bug spray at any time last year. This is even when we went to the campfire and movie and also swimming at night and walking back to our cabin afterward.

Overall, I would rather stay at FW than any other resort. It is relaxing, quiet and the boat ride back from MK with fireworks going off is very nice.

The transportation system was great. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus and we took a bus just about everywhere or we took the ferry to MK and jumped on the monorail to EPCOT. It was great not having to worry about driving anywhere.

I heartily recommend FW!!!
