I was just reading an article about how there is an increasing problem of people spreading their loved ones ashes around Disneyland in CA...with the Haunted Mansion being the favored spot.

It made me think that it must happen at WDW in FL as well. And maybe even at FW.

I know there are lots of die hard FW fans out here. So...if you had a choice, would you want your ashes secretly spread all over FW or WDW ?? If so...any certain spot ?? :confused3

I have heard of people doing that around Cinderella's Castle.

I might want a portion of my ashes spread out somewhere down there. Have not really given it any thought. Hopefully that is a LONG, LONG, LONG ways off. A little too morbid to think about.

How about you?

I know two people who have had their ashes spread at WDW. Although it might be morbid, I've already given my husband instructions of where to leave parts of me at WDW, and FW is top of the list. My daughter thinks I'm crazy.:) Hey, it's better than being planted in some dark, cold hole in the ground. :confused3

It's illegal to just go spread ashes someplace. You have to get the property owner's permission. I wonder if Disney gives permission for people to spread ashes around the castle, or if people just do it without asking. :confused3

There is that smoking section off to the right there. I would say that by allowing smoking there, they are in fact, encouraging ashes.

There was a poster on the DVC Board that had his ashes spread around the OKW Lighthouse. It's illegal of course, but who is going to know?

This is something I have joked about with my daughter before. I am sure there are legal issues. But who would ever know if you were cast into Bay Lake, out behind your favorite campsite, etc. I wonder where around the castle they put ashes?? In the flower beds or shrubs, maybe the water?:confused3

It is illegal, but it the kind of thing that is hard to enforce. In Disneyland they have a special code they call over their walkie talkies so that CM's bring over a special cleaning tool used for cleaning human ashes.

I don't like to think about my death...but it is an interesting question. If FW was one of my favorite places in the whole world and I knew my family was going to be visiting there in the future, it would be something to consider. Personally though I like the idea of a lake or ocean.

Just for conversation sake, i'd have some of mine put in Seven Seas Lagoon right smack in front of the magic kingdom, some on Main Street and last but not least, some spread in the water while riding the boat from MK to FW.

I'm probably wrong, but thought I read somewhere where Disney does actually offer a service to do this on Bay Lake. Personally, both be and DW will be cremated and a pinch of our ashes will be left in some of our favorite spots illegally I might add, but the floral gardens at places like DL, EPCOT, MK-WDW, AK, MGM, FW along with Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon and a few other locations will not suffer long term negative effects. The majority will be at Arlington cemetary.

I've also joked about this topic. I said spread me at the campfire and everybody can track me back to the sites. I also would like some at the MK and a couple other favorite places I have.

Special tool???? Like a broom and dustpan? A pool filter? dust-buster?

Personally, I'd like my ashes kicked onto an umpires shoes during an arguement in the first world series after my departure.:hourglass

FW would be a nice place for my ashes. Right in the pool - or better yet -- in River Country. Better yet, use me for kitty litter.....

That is funny. A "special" cleaner for human ashes.

I like the idea of spreading your ashes out at some of your favorite places.

It is a fact of life that we all have to think about sometime. I already have the music picked out for my funeral. I think my husband thinks I am nuts. I love Elvis so it is some of his music. I guess cause we are in our early 30s he thinks I am nuts or it might be because he dislikes Elvis. When you know what you want you might as well let your wishes be known. This gives me something else to think about.

nothing wrong with ash bats.

and nothing wrong with the King either. I've always thought about the songs for my funeral. Enter Sandman will be played, of course, but as for the rest, I'm torn. My Way (Elvis Version) will be another.

The King is awesome!!! I love your music selections. Metallica and Elvis. Can't go wrong there. :thumbsup2

I am starting to win my husband over with Elvis. (ok so maybe he is just starting to tolerate it but I gotta start somewhere) Someday we will even get to Graceland. I am getting closer.
